Build a Flow hood from this?

So I found this steel table on Craigslist for $40 and figured I couldn’t go wrong any way it went at that price so I grabbed it up immediately. Now I’m sitting here thinking maybe this is a good starting point for a flow hood. I’m not a professional welder, but I am a professional mechanic and I know how to weld stainless well enough to replace sections of exhaust pipe and have them not leak. What do y’all think? Worth the trouble? What should I do with it. Thing is 36” wide and the sides go up 19” it’s well made and clearly some kind of commercial grade kitchen stand. Can anyone point me in the direction of someone who had built something similar? I searched and turned up nothing. Thanks!

You might be on your own with that one.
Stainless steel like that should make a boss working area for a flow hood. The filters are generally 24x24 though, or 18x24, you'd have to cut it to size.

I would In a heartbeat. But I'm also a fabricator so no big deal. You got a steal on that too!

If you can’t weld stainless I’d say you’re SOL, but it would make a great table to put a flow hood on, theres s hole in the back for the power cord and everything, maybe you could frame something in wood that fits nice and snug in there?
with a little plexiglas it could make a really nice SAB easily, and a nice big well built SAB is as good as a FH For g2g’s and agar work. Not as ideal for bags but I’ve seen people make it work.

Thanks guys! I’ve decided to get 1/8” plexiglass and make a XXXL SAB, I would go thicker but ultimately I’m gonna fab this into a FH. I’m starting bags in a day or two but I’m using LC so I don’t really need a FH, but I want to move toward g2G. I do actually know how to weld stainless I am able to use the welder at my work I’ve began compiling a list of supplies I need. Won’t likely happen until the new year. I really don’t like the idea of cutting filters.. does anyone think I would have issues with two filters side by side? Would it mess with the air stream?
