I am a virgin at growing .. not partaking and I am curious if a tub has been flushed a couple of times can the tub be crushed up and reinstated into a new verm and coir tub and colonized again.

The answer to your question is no.

The mycelium gets the energy for producing fruiting bodies from the nutrition within the spawn. Spent substrate has exhausted the energy for both colonization and fruiting.

Past that, when spores touch substrate the mycelium sends cell signals through the culture altering it to the fact that the life cycle has been completed and there is no longer a need to grow.

So letting your fruits spore dump is a bad thing?..

Best to move it outside and feed it some straw...

If you are aiming to have multiple flushes then you should definitely not let your mushrooms sporilate. You might get a second flush, but the fact is spores alert mycelium that it's done its job successfully.

This happens because in the home cultivation of cubes we load our substrate with many times more nutrition than it actually needs. This huge nutrition ratio makes multiple flushes happen despite spore drop. In fact it's a huge factor in why second flush and so on are much larger fruits in general. Because the mycelium has already done its job it starts exhausting energy at a much higher rate for later flushes.

That makes total sense. Never really thought about it.
