So I purchased a fan filter unit

... and I think I screwed up. I purchases this :
And from a different thread I was reading they say that dc needs to be converted to ac? Honestly I don’t know the first thing about wiring and electricity. The plan was to get someone else who knows what they’re doing to hook it up so I don’t start a fire. Do I need to get a converter ? Can I get away with just getting a 120v plug? This is the back.

Really just need a little help. Or a lot of help. A little upset that I may have gotten the wrong thing. Thanks guys.

You need 36V power supply to convert your 120V AC mains to 36V DC.
Here is an example on Amazon.
You might want enclosed version that won't allow you to touch dangerous parts, it is up to you.

The description says its 99.9% filter efficiency, what are you going to use it for?

They are used as prebuilt flow hoods. But he will need to build something on to that one so he can have a prefilter.

Thanks guys! I’ll keep ya updated. Have some research to do now. It was $200 so I couldn’t pass it up. Probably could have gotten one for an extra hundred with less work but oh well. Also it’s 99.9999%. Will still have a ghetto rigged pre filter to begin with. Going to order the converter now. Would you suggest the 145v or 265v

"145v or 265v" does not make any sense. You order one depending where you live. If you leave in USA, you order one that can work from 110V AC, if you leave in the rest of the world -- you order one that works from 220V AC. There are also ones that can work on both 110 and 220V.
If you not sure, post links here and we discuss.

If you read the description it says this...
AC85-145V/185-265VAC 50/60Hz
So it will work on 110 and 120vac or 220 and 240vac. It will work in the USA or overseas.

If you are talking about this link...
https://www.amazon.com/Utini-Supply-Driver-Transformer-Stepper/dp/B07VX5N735/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=AC%2B110V-220V%2BTo%2BDC%2B36V%2B200w&qid=1576142785&s=hi&sr=1-5-catcorr
Will work on any voltage you have 110 120 220 240 I would suggest buying a multimeter just to be safe. So you can check what voltage the converter is putting out b4 you hook up your FFU to it.
This is the multimeter I have and it is of surprising quality for the price...
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NWGZ4XC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
PM me if you need help once you have the parts you need. You can always send the multimeter back to amazon for no charge if it is defective (hint hint) But it is a good tool to have.

You will also need a cord I would buy this one...
https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-16AWG-Power-Extension-Cable/dp/B002HWMY9E/ref=sr_1_17?keywords=6+ft+extension+cord&qid=1576222621&s=hi&sr=1-17

Take the cord and cut off the female plugin part. Strip back the black part of the coating on the wire. This will leave you with 3 wires. Take the black wire and hook it up to #1 on the picture above. Take the white wire and hook it up to #2. Take the bare or green wire and hook it up to #3.
If you bought the multimeter. From the off position turn the dial up one now it is on the DC voltage. Take the black lead of the multimeter and place it on one of the -V terminals at the same time take the red lead and place it on one of the +V terminals the meter should read real close to 36V. If not you will need to adjust the pot on the Voltage converter.
Once you make sure you have 36V coming from the converter do this.

As in the pic above take the black wire from the FFU and hook it up to #4 or #5 terminals of the converter you bought from amazon. Take the red wire and hook it up to #6 or #7 on the converter you bought from amazon. Plug the cord in and it should run.

Got it, just ordered the parts. I swear I’m not this stupid. I don’t know why I got confused about the voltage. I get really confused once there’s numbers involved for some reason. Just a little stupid. Thanks!

Thanks a million, I really appreciated it. And thank you for simplifying it so much, I just re read everything and it definitely seems easier than I have been making it out to be. Unfortunately I have to wait until January 22nd for the converter to arrive. I may try emailing them.

Why so long? I am sure you can find something locally if you look. Where are you located?

I ended up getting the one off eBay. I’m sure I could find something locally but don’t have much free time in the next few weeks to go out due to work. I’m dying to put this thing together.

Yea I am sure you want to get it together. That's why I found one for you that you could get sooner. It should be of better quality because it is 10 amp it should be more heavy-duty. The FFU will only draw the amps it needs to operate if you are wondering. With any power supply off eBay, I would make sure it is putting out 36V with a multimeter as we discussed earlier.
