I got duped by a sneaky contam within my petri growth.

I remember years ago Frank was posting his frustrations with contams and I think it was RR called him out for having bad agar plates. They looked good to him. I've been on the forum for years, and was aware of this.
But I still got tricked!
I try to grow cubes. But I get contams around the first flush. My plates looked great, to me. My grain grew out relatively fast. I posted pics of my plates over the years and heard only good things. My growing procedure was overseen by people on the forum. But trich city.
To address this on agar I'm growing a ton of different sourced cubes and paying very close attention. With jewelers clip-on magnifiers (to my glasses) I've begun to see what looks like greenish olive oil dollops in the first days of a transfer. Hard to see with the naked eye. The mycelia quickly takes over and the plate looks great. I take another transfer from the outer edge and its still there! It seems to be within the mycelia.
Now I'm growing spores on agar to start anew and ditching my old slants.
What do you think my contam was, and how can I best read about it?
Thanks, T
Crappy photos of day 7 when I can barely see the contam.

I’m not sure if it’s the same, being new to agar, but I have noticed some of my first plates had kind of afilm of a drop if you will, when myc started to show up. I’m definitely going to be following on this to see what I can learn and hopefully catch before it’s too late

My big mistake was to stick with this run of mycelia for so long (years). People kept saying that senescence wasn't really a thing for home growers. But had I diversified my genetics, I would have ditched this long ago, even if I didn't know what was up.

Likely trich it's good at intertwining with mycelium

Question: If trich, would my transfers to agar from a fruiting body also contain the trich? Seems that it could...

Also... Cronicr.... My Golden Teacher mycelia always looked very dense and bright white. The middle photo in your signature footer has very whispey growth.... I've never had that. Would that fall in line with my situation?

Cool. I guess I'll find out soon enough what cubes look like without a freeloading bum eating my rye.

Intertwined contaminates freak me out. Makes me question everything until the fruiting starts. Does anyone have good photos of intertwined trich or other nasties?

I bought a $20 USB microscope on amazon which is 100-1000.... but the tips of the fresh growth show little signs of the gunk. Ill find the photos.... It did show signs just as it overtook the green olive oil looking goop on day 4 of a transfer.... but then I couldn't see it with my shitty microscope after that. But I know its there because my transfers show it.

Day 7 of a transfer.
These aren't very good... I'm not accustomed to looking at clean mycelia, so I can't really speak to this. A few days back though... there were clear clumps of gunk in there. I can only really tell theres something wrong in the first few days of a transfer. Maybe I see goop there?

One last question: If I make spore prints from a fruit that had intertwined contamination... would the spore be free from it?

This Contam grew for three weeks on agar before it produced spores and showed to be mold. I knew it was suspect but I grew it out, I even colonized a grain jar with it. I could easily see whatever this was growing side by side with good myc. I have a pic of this contam running right into pan myc and blending together. Pan in the left, contam on the right.
