Reusable stainless lids?

I know lots of people swear by using plastic lids for their grain jars, and others swear by the standard metal canning lids (the metal disk + ring), but I'm curious if anyone has used the re-usable 1-piece stainless steel lids that you can buy for canning jars?
Lids like these.
Like the plastic lids, they're not made for canning specifically, but I'm guessing they can withstand pressure cooking (like the plastic lids seem to be able to). And they have a silicone ring on the inside to help create an airtight seal (but not the heat seal that the actual canning lids give you). And they look like they'd be fairly easy to mod for a SHIP/FAE.
Any experience? Worth it?

Well most people who use plastic lids like the fact that you donβt have to modify them. If thereβs an airtight seal, that goes out the window, Metal lids can get rusty, which wouldnβt be less of a problem with these.

I think a lot of people mod their plastic lids to put air exchange filters and SHIPs on them (I see tons of pics of those on this forum).
These metal lids are stainless, so no rust, and no risk of melting in the PC (I see posts about warping/melting/degradation of plastic lids on this forum too).

I have metal one piece lids like that. They work great, but so do the rusty ones and the modified plastic lids I have. The name brand ones survive the PC just fine, theyre PP5 If you ever have a mite outbreak youβll reconsider unmodified lids. I use silicone seal rings in all mine, and Verum wraps all of his.
Those you linked are expensive AF
These ones come with the hole already made and are cheaper, they are for regular mouth but I bey you can find the wide mouth version.
Save yourself another step, just throw a sfd under it or silicone one on.

Hey, thanks for the link AyePlus.
I usually do two holes in my lids -- one for the SHIP (which I make out of RTV) and one for a tyvek filter. But I know the heat seal on the standard lids degrades after even just a single round of PCing, so future seals aren't going to be as good.
That's why I'm looking for alternatives -- the silicone gasket isn't supposed to be a perfect seal (like the heat seal for canning), but should be way better than just a plain plastic lid with no gasket in it.

we have some ss one piece lids, i like them but rpita to drill thru... your link does have a nice center hole for straw option, for additional cost, could remove that silicone plug and GE filter that very nicely.
have only used them once, went with full SFD under lid, no silicone ring and they were pretty tough to loosen after a month colonizing. I suspect it could be even more difficult to remove with silicone seal so give them a couple tests loosen from a crank down before you leave them tightened down for a month of colonizing to see if you want the seal or not.

These are the silicone rings I use
Havent run too many PC cycles with them yet but no noticeable difference after 2-3
I used to make all my lids with ships too, but I soon realized that g2g is superior for my purposes for quite a few reasons. But mainly the added vector of the outside of the port and speed of colonization. I wouldnt use liquids for a hobby grow, if I was going to grow commercially Iβd consider it again, but still wouldn't use ships, just open the lid in a SAB or in front of a FH.

I want to say that for the most part, this method is really just a stopgap. Like you just picked up a dozen jars and lids but now got no SFD kicking around and don't feel like charging the drill battery. So ya get busy any way and make em proper when your order of SFD's arrive. I am by no means endorsing this over proper filtered lids.
