This is my second time doing this and they grew this big and less than a week. Is it a contam? If not I am amazed.

I have grown very fond at staring at my mycelium lately. This just doesn't seem to be it.

Those are massive brf cakes. It’s always hard for me to tell in pics what’s going on cuz the verm looks weird but that doesn’t look normal to me.
Have you done this before? People say they have trouble with tall half pints stalling out. Are those whole pint jars?

What makes you think it's not mycelium? Nothing stands out to me as obvious contamination.

These are pint 1/2, this is my second time. What scares me is that they did this in week. That's compared to my first time where it took a month because the jars are so big. I like the big jars. I had one stall on me out of 20.

Are there any filters in the lids? I don't see any micropore tape on the top. Is there anything underneath the lid?
If no - those holes could be a way for contams to get it but BRF cakes in general are less susceptible than grains... but a thick vermiculite layer might just be enough.
The pics are not very clear - the mycelium does not look particularly healthy (no rhizomorphic growth can be seen at all) - if you say that it grew this much in a week (I assume inoculation from spores) ...that seems like a lot of growth without any apparent rhizomorphic patterns showing.
Those darker points could be mold or could just be pieces of verm that have not been "eaten" by mycelium.
PS. if not sure what is going on and you are not running low on jars - just keep them around for a while. I think it can be useful to observe how contamination can develop for future experience - you could learn how to detect it earlier.

looks like myc is fine but larger jars don’t make it to100% colonization all the time.
Good news is, if they stall out and stop growing you can birth them and get fruits but you MUST rinse off any and all uncolonized brf cake from the bottom or it will contam super quick!

I have a big layer of verm at the top, I have read that it is bad to leave the foil on or tape as they need air.

If it is then this is a very very quick strain.
