Loose Coir

I'v got a 50l bag of loose coir because a local store carried it when i was starting back in october. I've found it easy to handle but not sure on water ratio. On my first batch i tried to wing it with the water and it was too wet, had to drain and then squeeze out. Subsequently i've tried to do it by weighing the coir and using the same water ratio as stated for bricks, i could tell before i got very far that it was going to be water logged, so i stopped short but i've had two grows now where a corner or edge of the tub appears to be getting bone dry and i'm having to mist like crazy as the mycelium colonizes and pokes through the casing.
Does anyone have a suitable coir:water ratio for the loose stuff?

Is that based on loose? It does appear to have some existing moisture content.
I did about 1.5l of boiling water and it seemed well saturated initially, but every time i visit the tub there's some dryness

Doing the bucket tek with loose coir myself, also with verm. A 650g brick and 650g loose is not the same. Measure volume instead. A 650g brick expands to around 8qt. I don't have any good tip on how much water to use since I'm still trying to figure out that myself and have only done it 2 times. But 4qt is way to much for loose, 3qt was also very wet. Had to rinse and squeeze out a lot to get it right. Next time I'm gonna try around 2qt and take it from there.

no need to boil the water, warm/hot from tap is fine for hydrate coir.
loose coir is definitely more hydrated than those heat and pressure compressed into bricks. measure volume of loose coir is not good, its pretty fluffy, stick with weight measure, 650g and 2q water then test field capacity. if need more add 1cup water and retest, repeat until good. if you go over-hydrate add verm to soak up excess or squeeze out extra water (not over coir below) and test again.
