Awesome alien! Where did you get those containers or what are they called? This is killer dude.
Never mind I see the link at the bottom. Can you put that link right after the first images of the plates?
Double the cost but less time spent preparing the containers and u don’t need micropore tape. Fucking gold my friend. Worth the extra money imho.
The money saved shipping pasty plates is worth it imho. Also you found the ultimate reusable petri.
Game changer. I got the last pack.
I put 3 quart jars triangulated on the bottom of the pc. Place the metal frame on top. Then put plates on that so it’s not touching the bottom of the pc. I also have another frame part that I place on top of those if I wanna double stack. I believe this might work without using the nutcracker thing. It’s a nice touch for Christmas.

I’ve always labeled pasty plates on the sides with tape and a sharpie lol. I love the clarity of these. I often have to use a flashlight with the pasty plates to see if anything is doing well.

You can tilt them at a 45 degree angle while holding the lid over the plate to use as a shield from above.

I was able to buy two packs. The seller on amazon limits it to one pack per user. I went back on later and was able to order another. I was able to order another two packs a few minutes ago. Didn’t check if I could order more so I got a total of 4.

Yeah I have that many pasty plates. I’d probably use these for specifics. Anyway I want to test run them first. Also I don’t need that many. Liquids go far and I can recycle.
I’m also thinking that I can stack these 8-10 high and maybe 3 stacks in one run. I’d like to get that many as well. That would be nice. If I store pasty plates that long they dry out. So I make them as needed. It only takes me about 45 minutes from prep to pc cooling.

You could always fill a few of those quarts. Ideally one would be easier though. It would be like a clip from a gun loaded with Petries as ammo. Boom boom

I saw your scalpal in the grain video. I’m used to an exacto knife but I feel far more control being able to use it the way I do. I can cut a small piece like 2mm with ease using it. And I don’t even cut i to the agar much unless I’m sending something for sturdiness. So there doesn’t even have to be any agar matter it can be pure mycelia. You won’t see anything for a day or two after transfer because the piece is so small but the uniformity is nice!
Would you say the same volume as a pasty plate or more?

I’ll try it to when I get mine. I’m also just gonna stack em in the oc and elevate the metal insert in the bottom of the pc like I described above. I have two so I may keep the bottom one, elevate with wide mouth half pints and then stack the 2nd on it. Let’s see what happens.

Ok mr. alien here we go.
This is what I meant when I triangulate mason jars and put the shelf on top.

I’d say these are a little smaller or very close in size to glad rounds. If this works I can probably stack 50 or more.if say I can fit 4-5 more on the rack and stack even higher.

Mr alien, are your quarts wide mouth? I’m trying it this way first then try the quarts next. I filled all my available quarts with grain. When I fill it with 6 the top plate is flush with the lid. But they all fit.

I basically did an 8 pasty plate recipe exactly. Put that amount of agar into each plate. So it’s the exact recipe. I used a little molasses this time and it made the blue food coloring turn green.

Yes. So far a lot of condensation but it’s starting to clear up. I’m just waiting a few days until it dissipates. This is after the pc session. I’m also ordering glad quart lock lids to pc them in.
Honestly unless I’m rushed I don’t really mind waiting. A few days until it is Gone. they are about 25% condensation on the lids now.

Also I go straight to high on the stove and don’t subtly bring up the temp in the pc. Got no time for that. I also only oc agar 30 minutes at 15 psi. 45 is overkill.

First try. This plate had the least condensation. I’d say easier than a pasty plate due to the size and ease of sight. Had to upgrade my light game tonight so I could see better.
