Oyster Look Alike - Lentinellus?
    #26372028 - 12/09/19 10:49 PM (4 years, 2 months ago)

Hello, I got out for my first hike this season in Northern Cal.  I didn't find much but I did see this one.  At first, I thought it might be an oyster but the color was way off.  I took one home to to make a spore print but I am not sure that it is accurate.  The spore print looks brown but it might look like that because the mushroom was soaking wet and it could be that some of the gill material transferred to the white paper.

I think that these might be lentinellus but the spore print is supposed to be white or cream, so I am not really sure.  Would anybody know what these might be?

Found in Berkeley, CA growing on a dead Bay Laurel tree trunk. No stipe.

Here are the spore prints.  Like I said, they look very brownish but I think I do see some cream color in there too.
