Out doing errands and stumbled on these, I wasnt prepared, and was in a hurry so didn't get alot of great section 2 info. I didn;t know to smell them! I knew I should have kept one.
This is not for me to eat them, I didn't collect them, just curiosity and letting people know these are out and about near Los Angeles.
Habitat- crack of a concrete paver covering the root zone of a living tree, a little bark is in the picture, Apologies for not knowing type! I never planned on hunting!
Location - Between downtown Los Angeles and Pasadena, closer to LA.
Gills -Pictured
Stem - long white smooth, slightly pictured from my scrubbed pic(just was finer, didnt wipe out any stem pic, just a bad pic on my part)
No print didnt smell didnt bruise immediately and had to get out of there.
I have read there is pretty much only one variety you can find here, even though many are "possible" But cannot find that information now for the life of me, I briefly looked into hunted and decided it was too rare.
I sorta wanna go back and smell them and collect a few now...

I went back in the dark and collected them.
They smell like standard musty delicious mushrooms.
no bruising it seems.

They're definitely not active, I can tell you that much if that's what you were hoping for. Someone more experienced will be able to tell you what exactly they are.

After the no bruising I figured it was non-active.
First wild mushrooms I have come upon since restarting the hobby, would have loved if they were active just for the novelty of it, I have some great strains I am about to fruit out from a sponsor so I am all set.
Capturing a wild active strain would be super cool addition though...
Thanks Everyone!

Im also in LA. Should be lots of mushrooms out with all this rain. Actives are very unlikely. I am a very experienced hunter - from Seattle (where I just was to do some picking). There have been some isolated active finds in SoCal, but they seem to be flukes at this point. A couple years ago, I found a very beautiful, but weakly active single specimen of Gymnopolis theirsi. Pan cincts have also been found in the past, but I've never seen any, in spite of a bit of looking at horse poop, their preferred medium.
