seems to be a pretty popular venue, and for good reason i'm sure. i've never been, but will be seeing king gizzard and the lizard wizard there in may. pretty excited about it.
tell me about your experiences at this venue, maybe post some video if it exists.
i would have loved to be at this one. never did get to see shpongle live. caught a dj set once though.

I’ve seen Shpongle a few times. Always a good time.
I’ve never made Red Rocks but I will eventually.

Saw Shpongle this past May. You can bring an empty water bottle and fill it up there. No assigned seating. Check the weather, as it will get cold after the sun sets and the weather can change pretty quickly. Layer up or bring a small backpack with some extra socks/layers etc. This also comes in handy if you are like me and tend to abandon layers as the night goes on. I was not harassed about bringing bubbles in. Security was relatively lax IMO. Also, you will not regret going up to the top to look down on all the people at the show, the city lights in the distance, and the stars up above. Once things got rolling, the venue seemed so tiny and intimate. I did not grasp the enormity of the place until it was time to leave.

I've been wanting to catch a show there for a while. Probably Widespread Panic. I really want to see The Gorge in Washington too.I would like to see Phish at the Gorge.
One of the best venues I've been to is the Suwanee Music Park. They don't have any amazing mountains or canyons, but there is a nice river, pretty forest and camping area, nice mist/fog to help the concert lights, and really good vibes except for the LEO's.
Allgood had a nice spot when they were in West Virginia too.
What are some other legendary venues?

Yeah some of this gizzard stuff is alright some of it is idk. I get that if they played around with these live I could potentially be much better. They'll surely throw down for red rocks.

People always say bands are going to throw down for Red Rocks and then get disappointed when it's not the fire they were hoping for.

I think the major issue is that people set the bar so high for Red Rocks that in some instances a performance of that level is unattainable.
I've heard a few two/three night runs where only like one night is noteworthy. It just depends on the group.

I think alot of times I hear from ppl and always think the red rocks shows were over hyped. Like people dont want to admit the thing they talked up and spent a bunch of money on wasnt that good. Plus it's just a cool and unique venue so if u take drugs there ur likely to trip off. I know people that spent an assload of money to go to those shpongle shows and for the whole time out there and they talk about it like it was some legendary event but part of me wonders if that's show was anywhere else or not so over hyped beforehand if people would feel the same way.

I think we are on the same page.
My buddy took his G/F out there for the Biscuits. I've been to hundreds of shows with the friend. His comment was that it's beautiful, legendary in that sense, but that it was a long walk to the bathrooms. Seems like an honest review.
The Shpongle shows I've been to have always been interesting, lots of DMT going on. I was given a does of acid once, took it, had an amazing night. I'd imagine at RR that would be bumped up a level of intensity, but I've never been, so...

That's not too bad. I live in Pittsburgh, generally Uber's or Lyfts are the lowest fare, $7. But that depends on demand obviously.

i can see this happening. i'll be on some pretty good drugs though, so i'm not worried about not having a good time.
gizzard added a second show after the first sold out so quick. i'm not going to be able to make both shows, and the original date, the one i'm going to, is on the second night. i hope they don't waste all their energy the first night.

I think it's very good considering lyft can be 20+ for most of my trips in them. Shpongle was 100 plus a ticket from what I remember, but it was my 1st one, and probably the last unless it's inside, or dead of summer. I got fucking COLD!

That's honestly shocking that the uber was that cheap from an event like that. When I was at camp bisco if you wanted to go from the top of the mountain to the bottom it was $100 and ppl were paying it just to not wait an hour for the shuttle and miss there fav bands set or something. It makes sense if u just drove a bunch of hours to see u fav band and paid for the whole festival ticket if you split it with ur crew 4 ways or something but still it's just so brutal.

Indian Lake was always a clusterfuck to get into, but once in, the festival ran top notch. Montage just seems like a cluster all around.

It really is especially with the amount of newbs and just plain idiots that turn up for acts like bassnectar and shit. The type of kids that cant figure how a shuttle from a parking lot would work. Always stay at a hotel. Especially this year it was like 114 out.

It was like 100 degrees at Indian Lake one year, I was tripping balls at Skrillex, who is not somebody I've ever been interested in but for some reason decided to check out. Well I had VIP that year, so I'm like 45 feet from the stage, he has these giant flame thrower stage tricks that are blasting huge flames every time the bass drops. The flames are 25 feet high and every time the lit up it was like the heat of the sun was scorching my skin off. Meanwhile I'm lost in space future robot noises tripping my nuts off and trying to figure out what the fuck is happening. I finally find a moment of clarity, realize I've never sweat so much in my entire life, then ditch the show to find relief. It was absolutely painful.
What happened to Bassnectar? It seems like his fans never grew up.

Yeah I've been to a bunch drive in shows for biscuits the prob is with a kinda PA style dive in set u can hear the band playing delayed by your distance from the stage and then hear them on ur speaker so it can be annoying if u don't leave ur hotel super early to get good parking. Basically u just pre game the lot instead showing up late

Soundboard recordings. Supposedly the whole weekend and entire tour is streamed on couchtour.tv in case folks can't travel still due to covid. I'm still pissed that brownstien ripped me off with he Ardmore streams that weren't even live that o didn't buy the stream cuz we all know they're gonna be on YouTube like 2moro anyway

Everybody loves a silent but deadly. Especially when you got a poop on deck but aren't quite ready to extrude that butt spaghetti.
I am referring to the sound boards, otherwise known as the recording of the show.

I want to hear that Spacebird. They don't bust it out that often these days.

Yeah set one seems to be its own individual sequence with bust outs of m80 which hasn't been played since 2010 and the bridge which was played like once before this year and then not since 2017. Interesting how they only played the end of rock candy after we like to party as well. I mean the whole second set looks fire.
