Is this cobweb?
    #26372553 - 12/10/19 07:32 AM (4 years, 2 months ago)

Hi,

recently I've seen this fluffy, crumbly sectors on some of my agar plates. Does it look like healthy mycelium or something else. If not, has anyone an idea about what it could be? Ah it's PC Golden Teachers btw.

Not cobweb. Just mycelium. Take another transfer from any of that rizo growth.

Thanks. I'll do that.

It's just that it was strange seeing those nice round mycelium-growth pictures all over the forum and mine are all a little bit off.

For example, most of my agar dishes have strong rhizomorphic growth but only in one direction. So if I make a transfer, the strong part growths, let's say eastwards and on the opposite side it's diffuse, fluffy growth like in the picture above.

I thought, maybe this stems from the fact that I cut a little bit into the agar with my scalpel, when I make the transfer. This is because the little agar sticks to the scalpel and I can get it off of it easier that way...

That probably had something to do with it. Looks good though.
