Pouring frothy agar...

I shook my media bottle a little too hard while heating it up, now its got a 1/4 inch layer of froath on top.
Would it be ok to pour like this or will the plates be froathy, then when I put the lid on it might leach out the sides?
It's been sitting in a water bath for over an hour now and it's still pretty bad...
I'll only pour like this if someone here has done so with out any problems...
TIA

1/4 inch shouldnt be too bad. If it is hot enough it will settle. If it was more than a quarter inch it would sound like you let it cool too much and you should heat it back up and try again.
Edit: Also, what is your recipe?

Ok thanks for the tip. How hot should I heat it up to? Its sitting at about 160 right now...

I edited my post. 1/4 inch of froth is semi normal for me. That shouldnt affect much.
I would leave it. You're fine

I poured one time after shaking it too hard. It wasnt as frothy as you describe but definitely had some fucked up air bubble-y plates.

Probably food coloring. Yeah that's a lot of foam. Usually mine settles more than that. Is that a media bottle? The foam may slide to the bottom of the bottle when you tilt it to pour. You may be able to get the first plates looking clear. Or see if it will pour off. How many drops of food coloring did you use? Could be something in that that's causing the foam.

It’s a 500ML media bottle and ya it’s food coloring I used 4 drops. I’m starting to think that is the cause of it all too. The last batch I did I didn’t use any food coloring and I had no issues with froath...
Well this sucks. I got a lot of it to go away by gently tilting the bottle on its side but still not usable... think it will settle as it cools or am I gonna have to dump it?

Did you use liquid or gel food coloring? I dont know your situation but you may be better off dumping and starting over. Honestly it will still work all the same, I just dont like having bubbles on my plates. I've used the gel food coloring with no issues. I usually dont get foam like that.
Recent batch with a similar color food coloring:

Ya I just used regular food coloring the watery kind. I'm gonna try pressure cooking it before I dump it, we'll see If that rectifies the situation...
For anyone who cares or has ran into this problem as well... the solution was letting it solidify overnight and pressure cooking it for 15 mins. Got rid if ever bubble.

The agar plates actually turned out pretty damn good. I’ve always wondered how people get their plates so transparent and I don’t recall seeing any specifics in bods agar tek, so I’ll share my method with anyone who is wondering.
First I mixed up my LME and I made 2x as much as I was planning on using, if your like me you got LBs of the stuff so no biggiie.
2. I run it through a coffee filter
3. I put it in the fridge over night to let any sediment settle
4. I siphon the top half off for use with a turkey baster and put in media bottle
5. I add the agar powder to it and shake it
6. Pour into pot and heat until it gels up
7 return to media bottle with funnel and PC
