CRISPR Cas9 gene editing on plants and mushrooms
    #26371616 - 12/09/19 06:14 PM (4 years, 1 month ago)

I have recently been getting into gene editing with CRISPR Cas9. Ive only used it on yeast at the moment but want to start using it on Cannabis and mushrooms. I am a medical marijuana grower and want to see if i can make interesting strains that grow better and have cool features. On problem i am having is finding out how to make plant and mushroom cells "competent" for gene editing. I know for plants i have to do it on a tissue culture and i assume i would have to use The Cas9 protein on a clone of a mushroom while in a petri sish or from some spores grown in a petri dish. I am having trouble finding much information on how to use CRISPR on plant and mushroom cells. Anyone know how to use Cas9 on plant and mushroom cells? Would i use the same transformation fluid used on yeast and  E. coli or would i need a different Transformation fluid?  Any ideas on what DNA expressions i should add to them? I want to change them to make some crazy looking plants and mushrooms. Maybe make a glowing plant or something to start and move from there.

Sounds like a bad idea to me
We evolved along side these gifts from nature for tens of 1000s of years
Randomly playing around with genetics just seems like asking for trouble
please don't
