Harvest from hell

I harvested my first good mushrooms about 3 or 4 days ago, while I left the stragglers behind to mature. Today I realized that most of those pins were never going to see the light.
Hundreds of aborts, side pins, sidepin-aborts, and hollow stems...
My sub looks so fucking chewed up from bad harvest technique. Most of the shrooms I twisted and pulled took a bunch of grain and coir up with it...
I'm seriously thinking about just trashing this tub and not even going for a 2nd flush...unless you guys think it can recover from such trauma...
Sorry for the shit pics but my back camera doesn't work so I have to attempt to take mushroom selfies...

Maybe I’m crazy but it looks like your whole sub is covered in trich... not sure how that would affect subsequent flushes but my guess would be not well. Definitely not a pro though so wait for a TC.

Naw bro it's just hella bruised...think I had too much FAE and it dried out alot...
What your seeing is a bunch of bruised aborts and some left over aborts I tried to pinch and pull out but they just slipped out of my fingers..
This was my practice tub...

You can probably get a second flush, pick all the rest then dunk for 3 hours.

IMO it'll recover. Just get rid off all those side pins & aborts, and rehydrate it and see if you get another flush . If there's no recovery, just chuck it. Never know, till you know.

Even with chunks missing out the surface and sides?
How do y'all handle ity bity aborts?
They're so squishy and hard to pull/twist...
Probably got 50-100 more of them...

I would let it dry out for a few days. Then dunk it for a few hours and put her back to see what happens. But if you get other shit going I'd foucus on that. Def wouldn't expect much.
:And just scrap them fuckers off with a straight edge of some sort or even your hands.

It wont hurt anything to put them in a corner somewhere to see if they fruit. A few extra grams for doing nothing is worth it to me but im a small grower.

It’s hard to tell by the pic but that group of small ones you picked look like pins. Unless you were 100% sure they were aborts, should have just left them to see what they did, wouldn’t hurt anything. But now, just dunk it for a while and try for a second flush, might as well, unless you need that tub for something else. And don’t let it dry out for a few days that seems pointless.

Most of those have been there for almost a week some were almost starting to rot..slimy texture, turning to mush

You’ll be good man dunk it and let it run.
New myc will prob fill in the gaps and if not it’ll just pin around them. I’ve gotten a couple good second flushes off tore up/broken sub so far.
I got tired of carefully twisting every shroom back and forth trying not to destroy the sub and now I just scalpel those suckers right off.
Aborts are a pain in the ass I had a few boxes ready at the same time last week so I just said fuck it and left a lot of them. Now when I check on them I’m kinda like damn...that’s a lot of shroom I left behind. All the aborts usually fall through the shelves of the dehydrator so I’ve been letting them build up them emptying it into my mixed variety abort bag. Haven’t tried it yet but I’m sure it’ll fuck my shit up.

Yeah that’s nothing. I’ve broken subs, dropped trays full of harvested fruit on top of subs, etc. Myc is much more versatile than it looks.

this.
don't trash it man it looks nice and healthy.
get a sharp knife and cut all the aborts off at the base, as level with the sub as possible.
if you have a kitchen sprayer blast the sub surface with it
dunk for an hour or three
it'll flush well again
search for and read thee tribal dunk thread in the tribe forum, some good schtuff there

Do you guys ever notice after dunking some of the next flush seems over hydrated?? I just started dunking instead of soaking with the mister and a bunch of the next flush cams up with the dark lines on the stem.

I dunno man I ended up tossing that tub bit I did get 48Gs bone dry... anyways I wanted u to check out the pinset on this tray, WAY better than that other tub!

I wonder if it being inside of an aluminum pan helped reduce side pins and helped more of them surface?
Makes me want to try a liner in that clear tub next...

Scissors can come in handy when they've got flimsy stems. I don't think losing a little substrate from the surface significantly hurts anything but it's often easier to just cut them off than to twist and pull.

So having a little (1/8-1/4") stump left isn't a big deal? I couldn't imagine getting much closer than that... I used a scalpel and still had tiny stumps left...
Also why would my first few mushrooms have noce meaty stalks and the last of them be hollow?

If you say some were aborts maybe so, but half your fruits in the pic were clearly not and should have developed a good bit more.

I just pick them by hand man, and just as much you can get rid off. If you can't get all of them don't worry.

Yeah, myc will grow over stumps/aborts and the sub will kinda eat it back up, in time. Never had rotting aborts in a mono...

Well that sucks because I tossed it... figured my spawn was loosing its life every day that I didnt spawn them and I'd rather lose a few grams from the 2nd flush then loose a few ounces from my month old spawn...
