I pressure cooked my grain and the plastic micropore tape melted

Do I need to pressure sterilize again? I had to remove tape with gloves and reapply new tape?

The casing looks fine to me right now, those babies will be done in a few days anyway!

1. That's his sig
2. Micropore is cloth it wont melt but the glue can run and leave a residue.
3. Transpore/durapore WILL melt.
4. Probably considering you opened a sterile jar and applied unsterile filters

:whathesaid:

Yeah micropore is like really almost a paper material. I think some "paper tape" in the medical section is actually essentially generic version of micropore...

Definitely shouldn't be melting OP. You must have the wrong tape, might need to repurchase. You could see if those jars survive I guess but, however maybe the jars have the wrong tape on them, and it's not sterilized now either.

Okay I appreciate the answers. Yea, I guess the 3m micropore I got was made with plastic but I need the paper one. I didn’t open but I pealed away the tape that melted and put new tape on but just a few seconds of exposure to air through a 1/4 inch hole risking contamination? Dang all that work for nada lol thank you for the great answers!

You won't need the full 90 :super:
Best to do it though ( even an hour)or all that work will really be for nothing
