What should I do about this? It's all over the top layer preventing water from seeping into the compost.
Pinning should occur any day now.

Yeah that's not good. Some mycelium kinda got that look too under certain conditions. Is it kinda gray? Grayish hue is indicative of cobweb.
I've had death star tubs that looked all cobwebby, and if my memory serves me correctly (which is rare) they took forever to pin and produced a minimal amount of substandard fruits.
If that is cobweb it's far along. Not sure anything can be done bout that.

Nah if it is cobweb i dnt thnk spraying anything will help. Possibly post a larger pic, like of the entire surface from birdseye view. If it was cobweb i wud expect to see a difference in tone. It may jst be something about your conditions. I too am not extremely familiar with cobweb. Only had it a couple times.
The OMC (online mushroom community) generally frowns upon kits. When they fail we dnt necessarily knw why cuz we didnt prep everything ourselves. That'd be why we do all the agar work and such. Start doing everything yourself and gain control of the variables.
