Can anyone link me to a tutorial for using popcorn as grain spawn?
I tried the search function and all I can find is a bunch of questions about the popcorn tek...
Any reason why popcorn wouldn't be a good choice, over grains?
Ok well using Google I was able to find this one but it wasn't wrote up by a TC....
is there any reason I dont see alot of TC's using popcorn?

Popcorn is expensive with low inoculation points. I would recommend popping and eating it while prepping other grains.

It's so easy to find though and I dont need to buy a huge ass bag of it...
I had to buy my rye for my last jars online and it was expensive AF...
Cant find that shit around here except in bulk from a feed mill.
Any other grains I can easily find at a supermarket or Walmart etc...?

Why not just buy bulk? Are you averse to large bags of grain?

Take the hint bro.
Popcorn is hard to work with and kinda pricey. Wbs is dirt cheap and everywhere and a chimp could prep it.

Popcorn is around $15 for an 8 pound jug at the grocery store, a 50 pound bag or horse oats are around $9 for a 50 pound bag at a feed store. When i was starting out I bought a 50 pound bag of popcorn, because the brand name was magic mushroom popcorn. That was the last time I used popcorn, and never once looked back. Popcorn works, but its not the best. But to answer your question, boil them for awhile, maybe a half hour, let them dry, load it into jars, and PC for whatever 90 minuets, 2 hours just like all the other grains, let it cool, and drop a wedge in, and your fungus will grow on it.

IDK how long a while is, but I'm using oats from like 6 months ago. Sure there's some weevils but they colonize just fine and a quick rinse removes most of em. I reccomend keeping your grow going as there's simply never enough IMO. Grains, if stored properly last a long time. Hell I have 1+yr old WBS and I don't even think it has weevils.

Fucking weevils man. The very first time I bought wbs I also got a 5 gallon bucket so I just put the seed in there to carry around. When I got home I took the seed bag out and thought oh some spilled out. Then I noticed it was all moving.
I’d never heard of them before that, kind of cool looking but not when there’s 100 in my house all of a sudden.

Some of my best flushes are off popcorn. The mycelia loves it. The key to where many fail is removing excess starches with a towel. It’s simple to prep and I find the low inoculation point argument moot due to the leap off you get from the extra starches. I use oats now a days as they are easy and popcorn is a little pricy. But it does work well. I stopped using it as it’s a little more work required preppping it but if it were a good price and a little less effort I’d use it all day every day. Nutrient wise I couldn’t tell you but I’ve seen some of my highest yield using it.

I'd love to keep at this hobby until I'm dead, it's just so rewarding! But life circumstances just wont allow it unfortunately...

It's pretty simple. Boil for an hour. Pour it into a colander and stir for a couple minutes until it stops steaming. Fill up the jars.
There are different varieties of popcorn. I usually see "white" popcorn and "yellow" at the store. Go with the white, the grains are smaller.
