Hi all!
So I’ve had success with my agar finally. I’ve done my agar to agar transfers to keep the growth growing and start preparing for my next bulk run by inoculating spawn bags with agar. My question is, at what point do I store my colonized agar dishes in the fridge and how colonized do they need to be to inoculate with?
I’ve also read that it’s not great to have them colonize all the way to the edge of the dish for risk of contam a, bit when I see people inoculate with agar it looks to be colonized all the way.

Those are the mother plates from spores. I just did my first run of agar to agar. Are they not viable as agar inoculants as spore plates?

store them before they reach the edge. They should be good for a month or two.. any longer they need to be on master slants. wrap them up in plastic is good to do, don't put the dish in fridge as is. they do dry out eventually, especially if not covered. your plate growth is whispy and all over the palce... look like you have have dripped a spore syringe on agar and the liquid started moving around all over the place.
if i where you, i would transfer a new wedge onto new agar, they work with the transfers instead of these plates.. you can use all of them if wanted.

You can transfer to other dishes from spore plates but normally u do that soon after the spores germinate. I’d take a bunch of transfers from those dishes and see what comes of it. In the OP are you asking about store spore plates in the fridge? Or clean plates that have had several transfers?
