Anyway... so if is TIGHT the air inside the bottle is enough for GE?
I would assume there's more than enough air for GE in the bottles. There's probably enough air for a housefly to live a couple days let alone mycelium for weeks.
Also contaminated air cannot travel through obscure pathways in all circumstances. Pasteur built contraptions to prove germ theory like this

Exactly. Then a loose lid won't result in contamination since is an obscure pathway.

That's why unmodified lids can work.

Most of the time that's probably true and why many people have had success using unmodified lids like pasty has
Problem is tiny tiny bugs. Spider mites could probably make it through a loosened lid. Carrying microorganisms on their carapace

That has a very low probability of happening. Specially if you leave the LC with the loose lid in your clean room or flow hood room.

Buy some sticky traps for insects put them in the room you think is clean and see just how many bugs are in the average clean home

Outside of building a medical grade clean room and taking medical grade precautions.... It's just a kind of clean room.

Or place a sticky trap surrounding the media bottle. I've never ever had a problem with loose lids. My Flow hood room is SUPER clean, i even do periodically ozone shock treatments, no bug or mold and probably bacteria can survive an ozone shock treatment that intense.

yeah, I don't bother with filters.
I tried no filters with grain jars before, half filled a jar or maybe 1/3rd full and colonisation stalled when it was about 25% colonised, it took off again once it the lid was cracked. I reckon there was way more myc in that 25% colonised jar than in a typical LC.

LC's that were started 11/19. Think these are about ready or should I leave um a bit longer?
Ive used 2 of the baby jars to inoculate about 10 1/2 pints of oats and they colonized decently fast for coming from old agar plates. No contams so far!

Made those on the 19th?

Would this work for pouring? is all glass. I think i could drop there a tiny wedge and close the thing... Wrap the whole pouring tip with foil? And then once it colonizes, take the foil off and pour.

I'd get media bottles instead. In fact I'm gonna splurge and get some right meow.
Just got a pair of 1000ml for $17. Gonna make some big ol batches.

I was looking at this model: it looks really bad ass.
https://www.amazon.com/Pyrex-Slimline-Media-Bottle-Corning/dp/B00QU9BVH6/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=media%2Bbottle&qid=1575876121&sr=8-3&th=1
Edit: I'm looking something with a small mouth to pour easier.

I figure they're all so much easier to pour from than jars and round-lipped bottles that I'd rather go for volume/$ than fancy shape. I thought reusing these snapple bottles would be clever, but I'd rather stick with media bottles given the better pour and the threads help prevent contams nicely.
