If you put a cap stem down on agar it will keep growing! πŸ˜› * 2

was gud shroomery
just discovered something dopee, thought I’d share.

The other day I made some agar dishes with fruit bodies from another plate, I made one dish with just the cap, for ms, and one dish with the stem for clones.

Turns out, even though i cut the cap right at the base and put it stem/cap down, I came back to it today and it grew even more! I guess putting the cut area on the agar helps the dude survive haha

anyway now I have a pretty cool agar spore print to work with, I wonder how much it would’ve kept growing if the plate was not there to stop it? πŸ€”

anyone else have stories of mushrooms samples still growing after transfer? haha

So you performed a fungal transplant to agar and succeeded in keeping the head alive. Maybe we can do that with people. lol what kind of agar would we need for that?

& shoot guess that makes it less special, do all mushrooms keep developing for the most part on agar?

Mushrooms keep developing if kept moist and room temperature. The conditions inside an agar dish are perfect.

Ive seen people reattach mushrooms to cakes and substrates that had broken off and they usually keep growing and the mycelium connects

I picked some Amanita Muscaria once and wrapped them in a paper bag and left in my trunk for 24 hours and they opened up fully in that time.
