Idk why these games get so much hate.
First pokemon game I've bought since the gameboy advance days and I'm having a blast, it's actually really good and cool to play in 3D.
Who cares if they dont have EVERY pokemon ever..that's like 1000+ pokemon and would be overwhelming Overall, 8.5 /10 for me. I recommend it.

Yeah! That one is pokemon yellow remake, pretty gold from what I see.
But sword and shield is pretty badass too.

Personally agree with you that the choice to cut the pokédex down was a good logistical choice Game Freak and Nintendo decided to do something "new" with the series (actual console play of a mainline game) and making a fresh and more confined roster lowers both the barrier to entry and the overall skill ceiling new players need to conquer
for hardcore players, anything that lowers the skil ceiling even a bit is viewed as bad
but more than that, can respect the objections to the thinning of the Pokédex if you (and myself) had played beyond the GBA titles (or in my case, the first of the DS titles) we would have ended up in a group who has potentially been leap-frogging our favourite/most powerful Pokémon since the GBA it was possible for me to move my favourites from my Pokémon Ruby team to Fire Red and then use generation swap to get them into Diamond so some people have been gaming with the same Pokémon for like 15+ years and now Game Freak has told them they need to "start over" in the new game
personally love it tho, may go so far as to give it a 9 8.5 for Sword even if the Sword exclusive legendary is stronger, it does not look as cool a the Shield Wolf

Hate? I thought everyone was going just as apeshit, if not MORE SO, for this one? The original R/B/Y/G/S games are some of my all-time faves. The GBA ones were great, too. I have both Sun and Moon and I just couldn't get into them as much (the upgrades are insane though).

lots of people were upset, primarily before launch, over various design decisions once the games actually dropped, a number of people who have played them have gone into full obsession mode and started drowning out the nay-sayers
despite having played the whole game myself, watch a weekly series of a British guy playing through the title and like clockwork there is at least one person on every one of his videos telling him that he gave a thumb down, and won't be viewing the episode, due to his resentment over the lack of a National Dex (the National Dex was the extended Pokédex that reached all titles) which always gives me a bit of a giggle, because youtube frequently counts comments as a higher level of "user engagement" than view count in terms of bumping the popularity up of things in the algorithm

Sounds exactly like every hardcore demographic for any new thing, lol.
Not surprised, just out of touch with modern games and their fanbois.

The Switch is advertised as a home console that has the capabilities to bring all that goodness to portability form. Pokemon (the main series) has exclusively been for portable consoles up until this point. It's even cut plenty of Pokemon in previous series too. People are just picking holes due to the new home console platform. Personally i haven't played a Pokemon game since GBA but i know the series is huge because i follow the emulation scene and i see the shear amount of people vocalising their desires for compatibility with that series and it out weighs any other series and i'm not surprised either because to this day i stand by Pokemon being the best strategy game ever. With such a huge amount of people following the series, they are naturally going to also have a huge amount of people picking holes. I think that's the case in this situation and negative attention will always be more vocal than positive.
