What’s more potent? Multiple mushrooms or single mushroom?

Is there any difference in potency when it comes 3 grams of mushrooms compared to a 3 gram mushroom?

. These two were both about 37 grams

If it's MS then it's randomish. On a side note I'd have let those get bigger.

Nope, each are just as varied. If you were to break up the single 3 gram into three 1 grams I would presume them each to be a bit closer in dose than 3 random 1 gram mushrooms, but that’s no different than crushing the three 1 grams into 3 before splitting again.
It’s very much down to weight, so that means a giant but extremely light mushroom can be similar to a tiny but extremely dense one.

They say each mushroom contains an amount of active chemicals whether it's large or small it's the same amount so smaller closed cap fruits are said to be the most potent. Somewhere I have a study where scientists show concentrations in different parts of the fruit body etc. While I'm looking for it here's another one I found with links to studies. Check out the part about supplementing dung with tryptamine increasing potency. Potency studies

Who ever ‘they’ are, they are wrong. The Gartz study is from 1989, has never ever been replicated and if to be believed produced fruits with psilocin, an easy to oxidize and destroy version of the magic.

The only way to find out for sure is to eat a lot of mushrooms...repeatedly. Until you are certain

I'm still looking for that other article but this is a link to all his research. John Allen co authored some of these studies with him and his research went from 89-2006 at least. I'm just sharing what available in the scientific journals bc I read boring stuff like that.
Here's a fun one conducted by the FBI on psylocybe fanaticus.
Stygian what do you think then, one big mushroom is equal to several smaller ones? Or that each one is random? I think every time I eat them it's a little different so idk what I think. I think there's prob a lot more factors to consider.

The alkaloid content is by weight, but that percentage is dictated by genetics. If it were a clone or isolate the genetics are the same and so size is irrelevant. If it's MS the different fruits may contain different genetics and thus different alkaloid ratios. That said there seems to be at least some interesting anecdotal evidence showing alkaloid content in later flushes to be higher.

With MS small fruits you have a higher variety of potencies due to genetic variation. When you have more variety, you tend to have more consistency ironically. This is why having 30 data points is basically required to create a bell curve. With more variety, you actually should be able to reach the average potency much more often (whatever that may be). When it comes to good genetics, big or small, it doesn’t matter. IMO mushroom matter is mushroom matter. The potency is from genetics rather than mushroom body size.
