Walk-in SAB?

Just wondering if it is feasible to build a walk-in SAB or would that be too big? I'm imagining a PVC frame with plastic sheeting draped over it. Would you still recommend an SAB inside this structure or do you think that would do the trick?

Some people do a "paint booth" with a SAB inside like you're talking about when they have trouble finding/maintaining a reasonably clean space to do sterile work. I cover mine with plastic drop cloth when it's not in use.
A SAB doesn't work like a SAB if you're walking around inside it though.

giant SAB wouldn't work because still air box, requires still air.. opening and walking and moving around defeats the reason it works. may help with cutting down contams, but not enough to justify a giant pvc room.. still would need a second SAB unless if you have a hepa filter, making positive pressure clean room.. then i guess you would need to wear a clean-room jump-suit.

Yeah they wear the hazmat looking suits and step on sticky sheets on the floor and then sometimes step in bleach solution. It’s crazy hard to pull off.

The next step up from a SAB is a Laminar flow hood.
Both you and your samples are going to be dirty so trying to keep a whole room clean is going to be hard. The point of a SAB or Flowhood is to allow you to create a small clean pocket when needed for specific operations, while not having to worry about being a dirty human carrying dirty samples around otherwise. We also don’t care about every particle of dirt, only microorganisms that like grain.

You could do a whole wall of flow hoods, but really good sterile technique and a sab is all thats really needed

i actually use my bathroom. i turn off all the hvac then i tack plastic contractors drop cloth from the ceiling to the floor in front of the shower and from ceiling to floor on the wall. i then drape one around/over the toilet i also lay 1 over the vanity. the wall is 1 complete mirror where the vanity is so i just spray it with 70% iso i then spray the entire tiled floor and the plastic drops down with 70% iso. i then place my sab on the vanity and spray the outside and inside. then i place my items im working with inside the sab. then i ozium the hell out of the room and shut the door and let it all settle for 15-20 min while i suit up in clean clothes and what not. then proceed to go to work i know it sounds like total overkill and im sure it is but the bathroom is actually small and ive done it so many times it only takes me 15 min to prep it and my contam rate is super duper low i mean damn near non existing and accidents can happen and the extra work has saved my ass before so i dont mind doin it and it also puts my mind at ease while im working

But a room with no air circulation for the SAB to be in would be useful?
Enter, close the door, and wait for the air to settle before working the sab in it.

Best walk in sab would be a car, all things considered. The problem with a “walk in sab” is that you, a dirty human carrying tons of mold and bacterial contaminants, is inside of it with your work.

A still room for a sab?
If you can use a sab in the field is making a still room worth it?
Kinda sounds like making an underwater swimming pool
Sab is basic as f. Keep it that way

It would help the user identify that he is the source of the contam, hehe
It would also make a cutoff from the general spore load of the house
Basically just a small sealed room at the end of corridor,
but yeah there's no critical need for it

people would get lost blaming the still air rooms construction instead of the actual variables.

Doesnt matter either way. Still air is still air even. Sporeloads is debatable imo.

Just use the sab wherever it diesnt matter.

way more radical than this and way more volatile a idea
is to suggest that growers could replace the sab with a bag

Very few people use bags successfully as SABs. I can also say that walk in SABS are counterproductive because I started off thinking I could work open air in a closet. Huge mistake. The point of the SAB is to separate your work from you and the rest of house air. Being inside of the still air is going against the basic mechanics of a SAB. Quit trolling, meaculpa.
