Spawn bags and tyvek sleeves

Hey guys, what's the best method for removing the bags? Do I do it once the pressure has dropped before the vacuum builds or wait till morning after everything cools?

You got a hood or no?
If yes, throw em in front of it whenever you want, otherwise Iβd wait till morning after when theyve cooled.
Also, FYI I havent used a tyvek sleeve in months and havent noticed any increase in contams.

So if I let it cool and release the vac the top layer bags pressurize.
I think I need to open it before the unit cools but before the vacuume starts building.

If thereβs negative pressure in bags and cooker and its equalized then breaking the vac in the cooker should cause the bags to deflate/ pull a harder vacuum, not inflate. They may draw in air as they equalize to atmospheric if they dont form a seal, but if you do it in front of the hood it will draw in clean air.
The bags should only inflate if you release the valve at pressure, causing a rapid drop
tbh I generally wait till the pressure equalizes and the bags are cool enough to use, I rarely need to do multiple runs of bags in a day.

Yeah doing edibles though you want fast production.

Are you making grain for edibles? I used to grow 100 lbs a week on supplemented sawdust with 2 presto runs full of jars for my grain and it was more than enough for using a decently high spawn rate too. i canβt imagine needing multiple bag runs a day unless youβre doing a shitload of straw logs, then I get it.
If youβre making supplemented bags I highly recommend you make yourself an atmospheric sterilizer and run 36-42 5.5lb bags at a time.

you can mod with a stopcock instead of a weight

You can order all the parts here:
https://kit.co/MyersMushrooms/drum-sterilizer
I personally suggest finding a barrel locally and it doesnt have to be SS, most of the stuff can be found at the hardware store or elsewhere on the internet cheaper, but dont cheap out on the SS float, a cheap plastic one will melt.
This is Gr0wers design and build check him out on the gourmet forums.
You can scale it up with more heating elements (or a higher wattage on 220V) and use it to pump steam into more barrels alongside which with fit another 42-48 bags each,
For an even bigger one you can buy a 9kw sauna steam generator, bypass the control and use it to steam a big trough or PP5 tote with a sheet of plywood on top and some insulation all the way around.
Iβve even heard of a couple cultivators having success using their steamers for grain spawn bags, with high inoculation rates and only as a final expansion. Definitely worthwhile to experiment with.

Depends on how resourceful you are. I did it for~ 150$
Basically a water heater element 15$ βBrew podβ enclosure 20$ Ss float valve 25$ Pressure regulator 30$ Braided metal hose 12$ Used metal drum 35$ Drain valve assembly 20$

a copper float valve is much cheaper and works great! also no brewpod enclosure. just use an electrical box enclosure, like 3-5$
also from harbour freight u can get a whole set of threaded bits for less than the one on the kit page
