verticilium maybe. I hada a tub look like that once. I picked the normal fruits and tossed the cake in a trash bag and threw it into the dump.

I wouldn't eat any of those though. That looks worse than what I had and the first pic looks a little green.

That coir looks way too dry. It should be sopping wet if you are using it for a humidity chamber.

I just noticed the coir. You should not be using coir in a SGFC. Use perlite instead.

Hey guys, I have a very similar look I think. This is only my second go at growing and trying to find where my house has the best conditions for fruiting. These things were growing like crazy in the jars before i pulled them out and then I have been having some growth issues after. Did the go bad? I'm not used to the webs on the outside.

Why did you cut the cake into pieces?

Half my jars were those cake ones with the smaller top. I am going to stop using them. The cakes grow like crazy in the jars but i think cutting really messes them up

Oh I see. That sucks man sorry to hear that. Once you get the right jars youll do fine. Personally I never use a SGFC for cakes and I always fruit cakes in a monotub. It just works better for my home environment i think.

Would you recommend doing a monotub and bulk colonization over the BRF cakes? I see a lot of people doing those.
Also, would you say the blue tint and webbing looks fine or that these cakes are contaminated? I have been trying to learn this difference between signs here but i'm pretty new to this.

They look dry. If they are dry they sometimes turn blue. It's never happened to me. I would suggest getting pf tek down solid and then once you can do pf tek without instructions then move on to monotubs. I've never seen webbing like that but it looks like mycelium from the photos. Does it look like the blue or green or whatever is the mycelium changing color or more like something is growing on top of it?

Both of yalls are way too dry. Make the foil smaller and soak the coir/perlite.

It does look like it's coming from the mycelium. I can peel it off but it is generally integrated into the cake. There is no green, only blue and a lot of the cakes are turning like that, so probably because they dried. I'm having trouble keeping them warmer without removing too much humidity based on room. If I can keep them in ~60 degrees then I should be fine to move them to this other spot.
Anyways, I reduced the foil and misted heavily all over the chamber so hopefully conditions will improve. If not then I will re-soak the pearlite. The one cake has a small spot of yellow started on the webbing. That's pretty new. Should i remove that section of webbing? I can post a pic later.

Dude those are clearly aborts. If you dunked, keep waiting. Your second flush is yet to come.

What do you mean by aborts? I have not done my second dunk yet. A few sections are still growing and I wanted to see if they mature, but I for sure will soon.

The ones with really dark caps and myc starting to creep up the stems are all aborts. If you dunked, just wait for the next pinset. I’d harvest the aborts though...
