I disagree that allenii typically have a nipple.  Are you thinking of azurescens?

Right.  Allenii have a depression where the "nipple" typically is in mature spiecmens from what ibe read and Alan has stated before.

I know what you are talking about,  but this link is a good example of what I expect to see with Ps. allenii.

https://mushroomobserver.org/observer/show_observation/296081

You can see what I'm talking about (it is seen more in immature specimens and you can also see what everyone else is saying ( mature specimens).

I don't think that is very common.  Of the 20 or so allenii patches I've found, maybe one had this characteristic.  Most are smooth rounded tops.  Do you see this often?

Psilocybe allenii have consistently convex caps with insignificant nipples.

The lack of prevalent nipples on Ps. allenii is among the best key ID's I know of to distinguish from specimens at any age from Psilocybe cyanescens or Psilocybe azurescens.

Ps. azurescens express nipples throughout their maturity while Ps. cyanescens has clear nipples at immature stages typically losing them as they mature.

Ps. allenii has such inconspicuous nipples throughout all ages I consider that to be too insignificant for a key ID, the most prominent expression being while immature.

Happy hunting, keep up the good work!:mushroom2::stoned:

Id say Psilocybe allenii too, they seem to have a lighter/pale color compared to cyanescens
