The third eye

First of, I would not at all call myself a "spiritual" guy, I am more of a empiricist, i rely on direct experience, I see more or less no value in spiritual or religous speech. It is nonsense, it don't make sense, that said, I place no limit on what can be experienced, but only on what can be talked about intelligible.
So then. Lately, when smoking cannabis, I have been doing a sort of meditation practice, trying to focus, focus, focus. And what this has led to, is that when I get high enough, there is something happening at what we usually call the "third eye area". It indeed is exactly as something is about to burst open here. And it feels like if this "eye" is the eye that sees the universe, beyond the limitations of the human experience?
Anyone else had this experience with cannabis, and managed to "open" this eye?

I don't think so. More of a mood amplifier imo.

I think cannabis affects me much stronger than it usually does to people. I'd compare 2-3 bong hits with 2g of dried shrooms.

I read today from pocket, in an article of mindfulness, that most people (self included) often start by focusing the attention on the center of yogic meditation. Not that this is wrong, but if one puts one attention on the center (eg. 3rd eye) and keeps the awareness open and inclusive to the rest of body sensations and vision and hearing and thoughts that a better combination of focus and continuum is achieved.
this can happen naturally with cannabis while following the breath as well as with other psychedelics, where the center is brimming with energy and even with mandallic radiance while the rest of conscious life is gently and fully present and relaxed.
this is not so hard to do while following the breath off cannabis too.

My buddy ate 15g of mushrooms and described watching a third eye appear on his forehead in the mirror. He also described seeing everything a few seconds before it happened, in the end he had a difficult trip and has had trouble wrapping his head around the experience.

Physically your pineal gland is your third eye and chances are if you live in a developed country and are over the age of 18 it has been turned to stone.

I think most of the attributions about pineal gland are pure bunk, although it is related evolutionarily to a light sensing organ in some lizards.
It is likely that the entire brain itself is related to light sensing organs, and in fact the retina and the cortex may have quite a lot in common, each transducing and conducting energy sensing events from one part of the individual to another. Retina cells obviously transduce light energy, while Cortical Neurons transduce and conduct electrical field energy (and more of course, by linking patterns into memories etc.)
the human pineal gland, however, is more like our appendix. more metaphorical than functional.
the third eye I mentioned above is a chakra, which is an artifact of yogic thinking.
