If you live in a large city in the U.S., Russia, or any other nation possessing nuclear weapons, there is at least one nuclear warhead aimed at you. It patiently waits day and night for a computer to give it your address and send it on a 10 to 30 minute flight to incinerate you and your family. There are many thousands of strategic nuclear warheads kept constantly ready to turn the cities of the world into hurricanes of fire.................................................................
The fireball would extend more than a mile in diameter and at its center produce temperatures of over 200 million degrees Fahrenheit, about four to five times the temperature found at the center of the sun.
At Pentagon City, a shopping and office complex 0.7 miles from ground zero at the Pentagon, light from the fireball would melt asphalt in the streets
About one second later, the blast wave and 750 miles per hour (mph) winds would arrive and toss burning and disintegrating vehicles into the air like leaves in a wind. The blast wave could cave in buildings and would turn windows and furniture into missiles and shrapnel.
This isnt even talking about the most destructive/powerful nukes out there...
"The largest nuclear weapon ever detonated, the Tsar Bomba, set off by the Soviet Union in 1961, produced an insane 50-megaton blast—about 3,333 times more powerful than the Little Boy bomb that leveled an entire city."

There are 3 big "waves" actually,
1 The Percussion blast wave, the invisible force shit that breaks windows
2 The heat and gamma radiation blast wave ( you know this but you blended the two)
3 The reverse shockwave, as the intense heat rises upwards there is a rush of air inwards towards the blast zone, this is what that mushroom cloud is
Not to mention the nuclear winds created by the heat differential that drive intense hot fires by supplying excess oxygen.
Sonic boom, heat, implosion, intense winds
Oh and dont forget about all the nuclear fallout in the form of undetonated uranium 235 or plutonium and any gross fission products like Sr-90 or Cs-137. Thyroid cancers fun stuff
There are so many ways a nuke can ruin your day

There is nothing to worry about. The thing about big atomic bombs is that the world is not big enough to use them
Look at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Also the disaster at Chernobyl and Fukushima.
The radioactive particles distribute widely and when we unleash this shit we end up contaminating the world. The atomic bombs you are looking at are so fucking big a country couldnt use them without expecting to also be affected by the nuclear fallout.
In this way, excessive powerful nukes guarantee nuclear peace rather than war
The real threat is an enemy without self-preservation, nuclear terrorism.

Anyone who was born after the 1940's has Radionuclides (IONIZING RADIATION) Built into their tissue There are 3 kinds of radiation.
EMF radiation - You are exposed to it every day by all electronics.
Solar radiation - A mostly non understood part of our solar system
Ionizing radiation - (NUCLEAR RADIATION)
It really is pretty horrifying how it works.
Your body mistakes it for nutrients it needs and it gets built into your tissue.
The turn over rate for bone is about 3-4 years.
Your heart supposedly Heals about 2% every year.

There are so many scenarios where one could be used either by accident or by a rouge nation....
Its disgusting how many nuclear disasters there have been only since the 1940s....
The Hanford site in WA state has left a legacy of strange cancers all across Eastern Washington and northern Oregon.
There have been 1000's of nuclear tests in only a matter of 60ish years
There's a Lake in Russia that is FATAL after 10-30 minutes of standing by the shore.
You dont get cancer.... You get radiation poisoning and die.

I think you are on the right track but there is more to understand
Certain isotopes get "built" into you because they mimic the role another element would play.
You are right about bones, Cs-137 (Ceasium) gets mistaken for Calcium and gets built into bones, its less strong but the real problem is that unstable isotopes are called such because they spontaneously give off radiations so if you build a bad isotope into your body tissue it emits alpha (a helium nucleus) and Beta particles (An electron) that can IONIZE stuff in your cells.
The danger is from these particles fucking up your DNA on the physical level. If they are inside you they throw off these particles They can break shit and it has to be repaired and mistakes can happen during repair this is what leads to mutations but not like X men mostly just fucking cancer.
Radiation poisoning is mostly from acute exposure, like getting blasted with radiation. Basically if you get microwaved by Gamma rays (nuke heat rays that burn shit)that can lead to radiation poisoning
Most people affected by these disasters are because radioactive isotopes are inhaled/ ingested from food and then once inside they emit particles that fuck you up on the cellular level leading to cancer

Here is something interesting.
In Hiroshima, People were able to reenter the bomb blast site within a month without worrying about health effects
In Chernobyl, the site remained uninhabitable for years upon years, I think it still is harmful to your health to go there
This is because a nuke unleashes 90% of the energy as gamma rays and the blast sucked all the dust and particles into the stratosphere where they were carried away from the site
At Chernobyl, the cooling systems of a reactor core failed after a test and a hydrogen explosion blew the roof off the building spewing a cloud of nasty fission products into the lower atmosphere, the nasty shit did not get swept up and away, but the thing is that the nuclear core was still undergoing fission they could not stop it so the site was not only coated in fallout but it was actively spewing out alphas betas and gammas unlike the atomic bomb which just made 90% of its shit into pure gammas and then its over
Real interesting shit

You gotta admit that there is something enigmatic about how nuclear decay is both random and unstoppable
Nothing you can do can change it, gotta be some whole field or type of force that we lack the ability to perceive
I feel like monkey me know nothing in the grand scheme

The fire burned for 10 days, blanketing most of Europe in fallout.

North sea fish is a nono The locals don't eat it, it get exported
Stay away from that Columbia river salmon too, Hanford dumped high level nuclear waste into the Columbia river basin for decades.

Not only that but the epigenetic changes caused to your body and all that nasty gets passed to future generations
We can never attribute one persons cancer specifically to an event but how many grains of sand does it take before you make a mountain
Fukushima was only 2011 the long term effects are still unkown

Another can of worms completely.
Little do many people know, FUKUSHIMA was actually 3 simultaneous meltdowns.....
They have yet to contain them....
I was reading an article a while back about how they cant even get robots close to the cores, they get fried by radiation and die.
The way they contained the Chernobyl core was nothing short of brilliant. The "CONCRETE SARCOPHAGUS"

I mean the whole thing was a cover-up from the beginning
"On December 22, 1988, Soviet scientists announced that the sarcophagus would only last 20–30 years before requiring restorative maintenance work. In 1998, with the help of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, a conservation programme was completed that included securing the roof beams from collapsing. Nonetheless, the rain-induced corrosion of supporting beams still threatens the sarcophagus' integrity.[5] It was revealed that the water is leaking through the sarcophagus via holes in its roof, becoming radioactively contaminated, and then seeping through the reactor's floor into the soil.[5]
The New Safe Confinement, rolled into place in November 2016, allows for the dismantling of the sarcophagus and for radioactive material to be removed.[13][14] The containment was expected to replace the existing sarcophagus in 2015. However, delays and a €100 million funding gap caused a yearlong delay, before being moved into place in November 2016.
As of April of 2019, the building is undergoing testing of its installed systems. "

Yeah, but what can you do though?
At least they have some kind of solution.
Japanese are never going to clean up their mess.
They say Fukushima would have been exponentially worse if the earthquake and tsunami didn't happen on a Friday afternoon when everyone was at their posts.
All 39 of their reactors could have melted down..
"As of May 2018, there are 39 operable reactors in Japan. Of these, 9 reactors in 5 power plants are currently operating. Additionally, 5 reactors have been approved for restart and further 12 have restart applications under review. Jul 18 2019"
Building a bunch of Nuclear reactors on a fault line called "THE RING OF FIRE" Is really just a great illustration of post war American Ignorance

Things like that bioaccumulate up the food chain.
Why does the fish and game department have recommended limits for fish consumption in certain water ways.
I grew up in upstate NY where mercury is the biggest problem.
There are certain lakes that are "dead lakes"
So polluted nothing can live in them
The North sea is not very big, Much of the chernobyl fallout made landfall in northern europe...
Not to mention the many nuclear disasters the UK is responsible for.
Spring, 1957 Windscale (now Sellafield), UK Radioactivity release contaminated about 800 farms and introduced Strontium 90 to domestic milk supply. Milk was sold to the public without any warnings.[56] 8 Oct 1957 Windscale/Sellafield, UK Fire ignites plutonium piles, contaminating surrounding dairy farms.[56] 0 78 5 May 1967 Scotland, United Kingdom Partial meltdown at Dumfries and Galloway. Graphite debris partially blocked a fuel channel causing a fuel element to melt and catch fire at the Chapelcross nuclear power station. Contamination was confined to the reactor core. The core was repaired and restarted in 1969, operating until the plant's shutdown in 2004.[57][58] May 1977 Dounreay, Scotland, UK A hydrogen explosion at the plant caused by a reaction of potassium and sodium. This furthermore resulted in a concrete slab being destroyed, and the debris being scattered around the facility. Sep 1996 Dounreay, Scotland, UK A fuel reprocessing plant was shut down after elevated radiation levels were detected in waste-water discharged to the sea.[59] Feb 1998 Sellafield, UK Two workers exposed to radiation due to a leak from a damaged bag containing a nuclear filter.[60] 19 Apr 2005 Sellafield, UK 20 tonnes uranium and 160 kg plutonium leak from a cracked pipe at the Thorp nuclear fuel reprocessing plant 0 65 3[61]
