How do you decide upon a new trip spot in nature?

What are the criteria when deciding?
Do you (and how do you) control for people, animals, etc?
Do you do a small dose in the area first?
Do you go it alone or with a sitter/ another person who will also be tripping?
What time of day do you prefer? And is it just for the trip or do you stay/camp out in the area?
Basically, I'm looking to trip in nature and I'm looking for some information on how others find a new spot and maximize safety, comfort, etc.
Thanks all, Mush Love

Pick somewhere green, safe, secluded and clean-- if you have a stream or flowing water it can be a powerful positive. Just a patch of grass can be plenty with the sky and clouds though, birds, squirrels and everything. Visit a couple times prior and make sure you're not going to plop down on an anthill or next to a beehive as the last thing you want to do is get bitten by insects in that condition-- you might be paranoid about it for the rest of your trip.
I also try and avoid dog parks-- once on my 3rd floor porch there were two dog walkers on the lot below that let their dogs get too close and they went berserk, angrily lunging at each-other-- was not a good vibe.

Get yourself an allotment from the council. Or some land! And camp there. I have an allotment and camped on it; one of the neighbouring owners turned up out of the blue to feed his chickens, while I was, well, fucked! Ah well. Somewhere wild, that person could be a psycho; I wouldn’t risk it fella, you’re too vulnerable on psychedelics.
Take care, DJ Ed

For me, its simply looking around and noticing the natural beauty of the area.
The criteria for me is simple:
1) is the area large enough for me to explore in?
2) is the area beautiful enough for my liking?
If it meets those two, then Im good. I usually dont think about wild animals unless Im in a place that is super remote. I give a basic walk around so i have a sense of trails and direction. But i dont explore the whole thing to save any special surprizes for the trip
I prefer tripping in the day, either by myself or rarely with a friend.

My answer (as well a large reason why I adopted my moniker, at the behest of close tripping friends, of course) is I just "feel it".
The "vibe" tells me. I can feel it even when I'm not under the influence of any psychoactives, even cannabis. I swear the Earth talks to you, via your higher mind. You feel it. I've walked in areas where in one spot it felt ideal, and 20 feet to the left you could tell something was off. Just because they are wooded areas doesn't mean energies don't transfer, coalesce, or influence the surrounding area/proximity in weird ways (almost like EMF).
We tend to like to arbitrate our living spaces into neatly cubed houses w rooms, etc, so we can say "The basement is haunted!", or "That house is haunted!". In nature, there are no walls, and your intuition and higher mind, if focused, become like a compass for this stuff. If your "lower state" tells you it's good or bad, then under the influence that will amplify. I've yet to be lead wrong on this in my personal experiences.
Strengthening your intuition, just like a muscle, at least for me has been one of the biggest lessons from psychedelics.
