Yea I wouldn't put them in a microwave. For one they aren't microwave safe. 2 they will boil over really fast and 3. That's just asking for contamination.

Unnecessary risk though a slanted plate is perfectly fine. Sometimes it's even better than one that's not slanted.

Just use the slanted plates and level out your table for next time.
If you were that much of a perfectionist, your table would be flat.

Order a case of 500, they come out to about 15.c a piece.

Chill dude, you'll make mistakes. It's part of the fun, right? It's just a few plates and what's done is done: why not see how it works out and IF it fails and you cannot see what to do better, THEN do a post-mortem here? Obsessing over every little detail's gonna ruin the fun eventually.
This one is slanted (b/c my table isn't level) and unfinished (b/c the agar clumped).

Bro your good. There is a guy washing out Petri dishes with bleach water and reusing them with success. Your good. But I suggest buying a case of Petri dishes so you don't stress about the learning curve.

Ya I'll relax, just was a little discouraging after putting all that work into it. But I'll try them first before I try to nuke them.
So why are you taking wedgesnout of the middle of your plate in that pic? I thought the idea was to get the outer growth?

dude you poured plates for the very first time which is awesome! of course you weren't going to get "perfect" plates the first time, that's impossible to ask of yourself. the more you practice the smoother it will be and down the road you're going to giggle about having ever been nervous.
I'll tell you right now, you're going to lose plates in almost every sleeve to contamination, accidents, droppage, spilled agar, infection during transfer etc. you gotta accept that right out of the gate or you're in for a long road of disappointment.

That plate appears to be a plate that was transferred from days ago that was saved and its grown past where he transferred from. Sometimes itβs necessary to take wedges mid plate though if itβs an overgrown plate.

SFS96's agar forensics are on point: plate was transferred from a month ago and left chilling on my shelf.

I did the same thing the other day when I poured my first ones. Did ten and theyβre all slanted to some degree, and I even spilled some somehow, prob fumbling the plate while it was still super thin.
Theyβll be good. All my clones are doing fine despite the slant and heavy condensation.
