Just poured my first stack and am waiting for them to cool so I can wrap...
I feel like I fucked up sterile protocol somewhere along the lines....

I used 8g lme to 400 ml. . Does that sound right?

you'll be fine. plates are poured in open air in most labs. 8 g lme/400 mls is spot on.

Well for one I used just under 400 MLS for 10 plates...also once I got to number 7 I realized there was a golf ball sized chunk still solidified. So I pulled the bottle out and nuked it and waited till it hit 120 degrees then poured the last 3...
All in all it just didn't feel very smooth.

So I just looked and i definitely fucked them up..
I poured just enough to cover the bottom of the plate but obviously my table is not level so one side of the plates is about half way up from the bottom, or where the lid meets the bottom.
The other side is real fucking close to the top of the plate... fuck!
I'm not happy right now I only bought 20 of these and 10 are already fucked up...
I think my thermometer sucks ass. I feel like it wasn't as warm as it should of been when I poured. Seemed chunky and really thick. The chunk at the bottom was a dead give away..

chill. as long as you cut your cling wrap to exactly 1", no more no less, you'll be fine.
But seriously chill... no reason to be anxious, your plates will be fine and you are going to have a great time messing around with agar.
If you are worried about condensation, put a mug of fairly warm water on top of your stack. Once the mug is room temp, you shouldn't have any condensation and your plates should be room temp as well.
Even if they are uneven, they will still work fine.

I'm worried because the media comes up to damn near the top of the plates on one side..
Basically one side is double as thick as the other...
I guess it will probably work the same but I'm a perfectionist and this kind of stuff really gets to me..

It's not a critical error by any means at all, just use it as a learning experience to get better next time.
You can't expect to do anything well if you don't give yourself a chance to learn from failure now and then.

It's cool bro with slanted plates you dont have to worry about condensation and being close to the top wont hurt anything. The tip in that video about putting plates in a bag with silica packet could be useful for condensation. Maybe I'll try that some day.

Those 7 should be fine anyways, unless they are not. You never know until time has passed.
Yeah, it's a job doing this. You've got to work out the bugs is all. The level surface is one you'll work out next time, and the golf ball.
When I make agar I do it stove top. Once the water has come to a boil I slowly add the powders while stirring with a whisk.
Let it reach boiling again while stirring and she's done. It's pretty quick. I always make way less than a liter.

Alright I'm not gonna let these couple mishaps discourage me from pouring plates...
I've still got another sleeve I can pour after correcting my last mistakes, and then order some more...
I guess 3 bucks worth of plates ain't such a big deal...even though they aren't ideal, atleast they are still usable...
Better luck next time!
Thanks for the support guys, I almost said fuck it...

really. just dont let it boil. id do 5 or 6 second increments after the 15. let it set for about 30 seconds in between. you should see it level off. also, leave the pore tape or saran wrap on if youve wrapped them, but saran wrap could cause condensation in which case you shouldnt worry. almost all of my plates have a little condensation in them will make them more clear as well
