Random inoculation points from agar wedge

Is it normal to get inoculation points that are not connected to the agar wedge? I’m guessing it happens when you shake the grains around to get the wedge set in place or I have a contam.

Ignore the floating wedge, couldn’t get that fucker off the side of the jar.

Yes, mycelium will break off on the initial shake and start in diffrent parts of your grain.

So none of the stand alone spots look troublesome? Some look a bit dull white compared to the bigger colonies growing off the wedges.

I thought that's what most people do. I shake my jars harder than I shake my martinis! Break up that agar! Rub off mycelium and spread it around! More inoc points for faster colonization (right?)! :P

Some love to I find it easier to judge when a good time to shake is by just leaving it
