Cosmology, Creation, and Christ

Nobody ever told me there is a consistent fractal pattern running throughout the Bible from beginning to end, but it's there.

I heard all my life that the Bible (and the Book of Genesis in particular) is just a loose collection of imagined fables and myths that a bunch of bronze-age goat-herders made up in their heads.  I hope to help dispel that modern myth by showing just how intricate and majestic the design of the Bible actually is.  I would challenge readers to set aside their preconceptions and look on this material with an open mind.

I was once a mocker of Christianity.  I challenge you to open your mind and look again.  There is more going on here than you might think.

In the Book of Genesis, the first 3 days of creation match the last 3 days of creation.
Days 1,2,3, God creates spaces by separating elements.
Days 4,5,6, God fills those spaces with created things.

Day 1 corresponds to Day 4,
Day 2 with Day 5
Day 3 with Day 6

On Day 1, God separates Light from Dark, and on Day 4, He fills creation with lights, the Sun, Moon, and Stars..
On Day 2, God separates the "Waters below" from the "Waters above" and on Day 5 he fills the "heavens above" with birds and the "sea below" with sea creatures.
On Day 3, God separates the Land from the sea, and on Day 6 He fills the land with animals and people.

This pattern alone hints that there is a special design underlying the scriptures.  The Book of Genesis is not a mere scrawling out of ideas of where the world came from.  It is much more than that.  And that "much more" keeps increasing.  The deeper you investigate, the more beautiful and vivid fractal patterning undergriding the Holy Bible come into relief.

The Genesis Creation account sets up a fractal pattern that runs throughout the Bible.  For example, when Jesus is born in Bethlehem, there is witnessed an unusual star in sky.  (The star which the wise men followed to find Him) This hovering light over Jesus was an allusion back to Genesis Day 1 of creation.

"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
"

Jesus was a 'new creation' (just as the world was a new creation in the beginning), and Jesus is likewise described as the true light that has come into the world.  The world before Jesus is thus the "void of darkness" described in the beginning in Genesis... And when Jesus is born, it is like light coming out of that darkness for the first time.  This is one of the more obvious examples of the fractal pattern of the Bible.
(Jesus' entire ministry is actually a retelling of the movements of ancient Israel in the Old Testament.  For example when Jesus leads his followers out into the Wilderness and miraculously feeds them with bread and fish.. this is a fractal repeating of when Israel was called out of Egypt and into the wilderness to be miraculously fed by God with Manna from heaven...)

Now, jumping back to the original Creation in Genesis....

Day 1 was the separation of Light from the Darkness.

The contrast between Light and Dark is the fundamental structure of the universe.  Most if not all of the world's ancient religions have a similar concept at the root of their cosmology. (The Chinese Yin-and-Yang for example.)

Light represents meaningful order, and Darkness represents confusion and chaos.  This relationship between illuminated meaning and dark confusion sets the stage for the rest of the Bible, (and all of reality itself)...  We see the relationship repeated in Day 2 (The Heavenly Waters above the Earthly Waters)  ... and again on Day 3 with the Land and the Sea....

I think one of the clearest visual examples of this contrast is in the distinctions between "The Land" and "The Sea"

The Land is solid and stable.  Land representes clearly defined and persistent order - a firm foundation you can stand on.
The Sea is fluid and unstable.  The sea is undefined and is always in a state of change.  The sea washes away, and you will sink into it.

Many ancient cosmologies riffed on these themes, using the elements of nature as a symbolic basis for reality itself.  However the Bible has an amazing mastery of such symbolism.  The Bible is an amazing fractal demonstration of such symbolic patterns from beginning to end.  For example, we usually find ancient Israel depicted as the "dry land" which is constantly being threatened by enemy nations depicted as "raging waters" coming to wash Israel away.  The famous parting of the Red Sea found in Exodus is one of the most in-your-face pictures of this pattern, and that same pattern is found everywhere.

Many times the pattern in right under your nose and you didn't realize it.  In the gospels of Matthrew, Mark, and John... When Jesus is walking on the water. It's not just a fancy trick He decided to do to impress His followers.  Jesus here is painting a picture of reality, condensed into a single image.  The waters below represent all the darkness and confusion and evil in the world, and Jesus represents The Promised Land (meaning and order) that rests upon it.

that's interesting, does the fractal pattern continue to this day? as in, the bible is'nt finished being written, I once heard voices telling me the digital age will bring people to believe in reincarnation, something about the patterns in recording maybe, but i'm not sure what ya all think of reincarnation, I wanna believe it, but Jesus promises something better.

Everything is finished, and the end is already written.

"I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last."
- Revelation 22:13

And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
- Revelation 13:8

I think one of the most stunning examples of the fractal pattern is the transformation of ancient Israel's Holy Temple made with stone, into the heart of the believer.

When Jesus died on the cross, the veil to the "Most Holy Place" in the temple was torn in half, signifying that we all have direct access to God in the name of Jesus Christ and believing in His sacrifice for our sins, and that God raised Him from the dead.

In this way, the movements and actions of ancient Israel is actually a picture of our individual lives.  We (you and I) are in slavery in the shadow of Egypt(the world)... until we enter the doorway marked by the Blood of the Lamb (Jesus) .. and then God calls us out into the wilderness where we are tested.. (this is when you lose all hope in worldly things, and put all your trust in God) ... and then the tabernacle/temple is also an image of the modern Church...  Actually, in the Bible, the Christian church is frequently described in the picture of an individual Human body (Church body)... and believers are described as different appendages of that body, all in service of the head of the church (Jesus Christ)....  In the ancient temple, Jesus Christ was represented by the Ark of the Covenant, which was concealed behind a cloth veil, that only a high priest could enter.

Jesus said He was going to "destroy the Temple, and raise it back up in 3 days" (most people at the timethought he was referring to a physical building, and so were completely baffled...)

Jesus also said this was the "sign of Jonah"...  Jesus was showing us the pattern.

Jonah (an ancient Israelite prophet) was in the dark deep of the waters (in the belly of a great fish) for 3 days, just as Jesus was in darkness of the grave for 3 days after He was crucified.

(again the sea is portrayed as an image of darkness and confusion)

Then, just as Jonah was brought back up onto the Land at Nineveh, Jesus was raised up out of death, leaving an empty tomb behind Him.

The fractal pattern is everywhere in the Bible.  Everything within Holy scripture is an echo of everything else.  It is a majestic, Holy pattern of God's creation.

The ultimate truth of this reality is JESUS above all things, and if you want it, God will give it to you in abundance.
