If your grains are sticking together you a prepping them wrong. I'd ask what tek you were following if your reputation for not following teks wasn't so strongly proceeding you.

May i kindly advise you (for the 17th time) to quit doing things your way and try following proven teks? You won't regret it.

I do all kinda stupid shit but i deff had to learn the basics first to get anything to turn out decent or be able to troubleshoot an issue.

Your trying to race a duct-taped together fiberglass coffin pontiac fiero with 1,200hp under the hood. It's not unreasonable to take a step back and learn how to fucking drive first.
Plus your making it a real bitch for us who wish to help.

That being said, once you round that sharp ass mycological learing curve, i will generally support you in all wacky mycological endeavors.

Should I be wiping the rims of the jars before I g2g? Had some go really well and then I had a batch that all has yeast in it. Three jars of wheat berries were started using lc. They colonized beautifully, never shook them until g2g. Don't know if it was hiding and the shake spread it or if I cross contaminated someplace.

I've noticed after g2g or LC I get kernels stuck up at the rim and they sit there and colonize. Later when I shake I wonder if that's where they're getting in. I try not to touch the bottom of the lid and I try not to touch above the neck of the jar. I use gloves and I wrap the neck and rim with cling wrap allowing the filter to breathe but protecting the seal until it goes back in the glove box.

That's my gripe bout g2g, especially with white millet cuz they so god damn small and sticky. Fucking stick to lid, rim, everything. Sliding and falling and bumping into shit on the way into fuckin' up a clean jar.

I whipe the shit out of every part of the jar before g2g, epecially the rims.  that's the biggest crevice on the jar for things to hide.  I re-iso my rag before each rim-job

But you don't wipe up top once the lid is removed, right? Just to keep things clear.

That's the first thing i thought when i read it.

I've taken to first putting jars upside down in the sab, dousing them with iso and letting it sit up under the ring, then wiping the outside down with lysol wipes. Wearing gloves and not nostril-snooting strait into the sab helps a bunch as well.

no, i re- wipe again after I un-wrap or unscrew(if metal).  cant trust shit.  never know what may lurk beneath the layer... mwuahahahaha...

I turn my master upside down and whipe the rim, squeezing the rag so iso drips down in there and saturates everything

lets just say my spawn has been clean AF lately and im extremely happy with that:grin:

I was asking about wiping the rim like with a bleach wipe or something. I don't do that but I wondered if I'm supposed to. I don't wipe down my jars but I wrap the top up with cling wrap as soon as they're inoculated. I also heavily iso and Lysol.

not sure about others but each jar of mine gets a thorough wipe down (even if left to cool in the flow)  before inoculation and preceding transfer.  just iso nothing else... lysol for the FH

can you explain how this works please? I grew up on the moon and  earths gravity is difficult for me to grasp conceptually:shrug:

also, when I lived up there I would cram the jar rims full of moon cheese to prevent contams from entering. then I would eat it off before inoculation (iso after) ever tried that... moon cheese?

When pouring from one jar to another, gravity assists in said pour.

Day 26 since soaking now, the first pins appeared on Day 19, they haven't grown much since then though and now look like on the photos. Also, they have only appeared in couple of places (12 tiny pins altogether). I noticed that the cake has now shrunk masssively and the whole box is very very light. The manual says I should be now waving the bag 3 times a day and misting once a day. Is that what you guys would recommend? And what do you think of this overall?
