closed caption bypassing censors
    #2635251 - 05/04/04 02:09 AM (13 years, 1 month ago)

At me bro's house we always watch tv, n movies with closed captions for added amusement. Like in half baked they actually spell out best-est.
while watching cops last night, for a period the words that were well edited out were spelled out by the captions. Like you'd here. "Get down" but the captions said "GET DOWN ON THE FUCKING GROUND, MOTHERFUCKER!" it stopped after a while though.
it blows my mind when shit gets passed the censors like that. Like on the unedited version of the video "booty poppin" b.e.t. late nights, they show coochy lips.
if only i could get to the real cops videos, wher they didn't cut out right when the cops take down the suspect, or when the sodomize drunks with broomsticks.
the night they air unedited cops is the night the people rize up in bloody protest.

Dude... that's hilarious. I'm gonna have to start doing that shit. Sometimes I put CC on when I'm listening to music and watching TV, but haven't watched any reality TV like that.

I think there's unedited COPS on DVDs.

I always watch tv with closed-captions (not sure why, it's been a habit since I was small... now I can read and comprehend something faster than I can hear it and comprehend it!), and have never noticed anything like this... guess I'll have to check it out and see...

you mean that when movies are edited for TV, they don't edit the captions, right?

well alot of the captions are screwy, and aren't spelled right. But this is the first time i'v noticed anything like this. and it was a show not a movie.

also, how does that shit work, because i popped in a homemade video of marleyfest in the same tv, and it began captioning that too!
how is that possible? like it was spelling out the songs, and some of the things the cameraman was saying.
i didn't even think anything of it untill just now. How the Fuck?!

Yeah, I noticed that too. It seems to depend which channel the movie is on.

Sometimes I don't want to turn the TV up, and turn on the closed captions. They're especially useful for understanding Meatball better on Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

Also if anyone happens to have Trainspotting on VHS, turn on the closed captions during the toilet/suppository scene. It say, (when transcribing sound effects since there is no dialogue in the scene), "Laughing, Farting, Shitting". It always makes me laugh.
