Need help - P.Serbica ID
    #26348306 - 11/27/19 10:51 AM (4 years, 2 months ago)

Hi all,

I just returned from a quick hunt and I found a small number of P. Serbicas.

However, I'm having trouble 100% confirming some of the specimens due to some of them not bruising as heavily (or barely at all).

I'm 100% sure that mushrooms 1,2,3 and 4 are P. Serbica. The brusing on these (especially 1,2 and 3) is very obvious.

The other ones, (5-10) I'm not 100% sure about. I think I can see some faint bruising on the stems of mushrooms 8,9 and 10, so I'm relatively confident that those are also P. Serbica, but I'm really not sure about 5, 6 and 7.

Can someone confirm please?

Update: The bruising became more obvious on most of the mushrooms in the last 20 minutes. I'm pretty confident now that they're all P. Serbica. The only one I haven't confirmed is number 6, although I think I can see some faint bruising on the cap. I'm doing a spore print on number 6 at the moment.

Thanks, I'm pretty sure that they're all P.Serbica as well now. Spore print of no. 6 is dark purplish.

I think that supports P. Serbica ID, correct?

They are all Psilocybe species. What is your general location and what type of habitat did you find them?

I think he's in Central Europe - i.e. P. serbica territory.

I would say these are the same as his previous P. serbica finds.

Thanks for the confirmation. I was reasonably sure that they were all ok but wanted to make sure. It's interesting how the bruising on some p.serbica specimens is incredibly strong and on others it's barely there.

As mentioned by Anglerfirsh, I'm in Central Europe and these were all found in a deciduous forest in the same spot where I found all my previous P. Serbicas.

Psilocybe serbica

Can I ask what you are using for light? If you're using artificial light, please use Natural light because artificial light can alter the color and texture of the mushrooms.

Thanks for the confirmation.

These pictures were taken under LED lamps. Unfortunately, I had no other choice today since I picked the mushrooms in late afternoon and it was really dark in the forest already. Then by the time I got back home it was completely dark outside.

However, I made sure to get my white balance settings right to make the colors as accurate as possible. The mushrooms looks pretty much the same to naked eye as what they look like on the pictures.
