My Easy method to clean up agar plates
    #26347435 - 11/26/19 07:24 PM (4 years, 2 months ago)

So this is a new process I recently tried and it worked very well for cleaning up my spores to agar

If you only fill an agar dish with a spot of agar and do a transfer to it, after the mycelium completely out grows the agar only the mycelium will fill out over the crystal clear plate and  can easily be distinguished

The bulk that I have done from this plate has all came out contaminant free and is growing extremely well

This does work if running from an aggressive bacteria I've done somthing similar all be it kinda accidental so not claiming any credit here lol I had a hard time with atl7 recently and had to pull myc from the side of the dish. I just couldn't get away from the bacteria that snow flakes the agar but thx for posting this man glad to see it wasn't a fluke.

I think I may be a natural at this:

BTW isn't it awesome that the myc changes growth all around when it senses an obstacle like this? (The dense ring of myc)

What if something is present on the innate parts of the plate?
Since it will not grow out and present itself, couldn't you easily be transferring unseen contaminants?

If you use sterile petri you should be fine ...Of course you do need knowledge of a sterile technique also
