This is new...sprout in mycelium
    #26347020 - 11/26/19 03:50 PM (4 years, 2 months ago)

Popped open my shoebox today and noticed this trooper.

No idea how it made it through the pc then a month in a jar getting covered in myc then 9 days after spawn it comes to life.

Should I pull it or leave it??

I wouldn't pull it. If it survived all this, I'd be low-key afraid of doing anything it might disapprove of.

shit, it must be some sort of super strain of some kind of plant to survive all that lol. What do you think it could even be?

I'm pretty sure no seed can survive prolonged PC. Not sure whether it can protect itself against the mycelium while dormant in the jar--questionable? I think it's most likely a seed that was already in the tub when OP started mixing in the spawn? Or maybe it fell there during/soon after.

Very likely it was in the coir and survived your coir prep, not the PC lol

Same thing happened in my batch of unidentified sclerotia producer compost. Got 6 tiny little green sprouts, surviving off whatever light they get out of the ~30 minutes my bathroom light is on from inside a closed bucket.

I don't think they're gonna cause any harm.

I don’t think there are seeds in coir are there?? I just assumed it was from the bird seed. I’m getting pins now so I’ll leave it maybe it’ll look cool when they’re done.

I had a jar a PC'd for 120 mins show some growth of the rye berries.  Left it out for a couple weeks as a test to see how long I could store prepared jars before inoculation.  I tossed it before leaves happened but the rye was definitely growing.  No idea how it survived the PC cycle.  No contamination either.

That sounds like you're doing something wrong, because my tester jar has been sitting for most of a decade and showing no signs of life.
