just wanted to make a thread to talk about the fallout series as this is a very great game series to play while under any influence (in my opinion) which was your faverite? why was it?
EDIT: what was your favorite mission/quest?

3, 4, 2, in that order.
3 had the best setting, through 4 got close. 4 had the most fun stuff to do, and 2 was the funniest, in a sad way.

never got to play 2 as i was a console nube. but new vegas was my faverite, kinda mad you didn't even bring it up but that game trumped 3 in my opinoin, i played through new vegas like 6 times, and 3 only once. and your so right with 4 having the most stuff to do, yet i still feel they under delivered 4 and then obviously 76 was under delivered

I don't get why people keep fanboying over New Vegas.
The plot was bad to mediocre by comparison to every other Fallout, the setting was absolutely terrible (yay, more beige sand!), the weapons were pretty uninspired, and all the best factions were minor characters.
It reminded me a bit of the third STALKER--take everything that makes the first game great (and the second game good), then put it in clearly marked map locations that are all 15 minutes of walking through nothing away from each other. Then make people do a scavenger hunt that requires going to each location repeatedly.

i mean you could say the same with 3, it had more open space than new vegas atchaully and new vegas did lack strong charecter signifigance, but it made up for that with strong faction choices in my opinion. being able to invade ncr with the legion is fun and vise versa, also the plot line was weak, but it was more realistic and relatable than 3, also gave you more choice to become what you wanted. in 3 the plotline i feel holds you to a specific person in the game that you have to become. where as new vegas you just wander and chose. also the dlc's i played were off the hook

All bethesda fallouts hold your hand to some extent and prevent you from being who you want to be. That's where they are weak, IMO. Fallout 2 let you be a drug dealing prostitute who robbed their johns.
As far as the scenery, it's not just quantity of space, but quality of space. 3 had plenty of open space, but it also had the dense city, and there wasn't nearly as much forced wandering. New Vegas didn't have anything resembling the downtown portions of 3, even the strip was bare by comparison. And you had to always wander through desert to get anywhere.

2 and then 1; it was a neat idea to me in my childhood when they dropped in the 90s and shooting people in the dick with VATS was a great feature for giggly kids now it has a lot of Nostalgia value to it, but the games and their systems aged quite well compared to some other titles from the timeframe
but prolly have the most time put into heavily modded 4 and actively play 76 despite all the hate around it
would argue that Wasteland 2 as a tactical turn-based rpg carries the torch "better" than the 3d titles and am really looking forward to exploring Colorado as a new setting in Wasteland 3

New Vegas was my intro to the series. Really dig it. 3 was pretty great too. But 4 got me sucked in with all the extras and graphics lol. Wish they would upgrade the graphics on the previous versions to the quality 76 has. But time will tell I suppose haha

If you're on PC, there are graphics mods you can stick on older ones to get them a lot closer to 76.

Nice! Still on console. But one day I'll have the time and $ to build a PC for gaming and music recording! Haha thanks for the heads up!
