Off grid is easy.
Costs more food wise but worth it.

On the real though Yang’s Freedom Dividend would make living out a dream like that way more realistic. Things like living in a van or a tent or a little cabin in the woods. $1000 a month wouldn’t be living large but it would stand between you and starvation or getting trapped in a situation you couldn’t break out of.

Your goddamn right it would. Thats one of the reasons I'm such a ardent supporter. UBI would enable me to live my dream.

Two (or 3?) years ago I was charged $700 for the privilege of being completely uninsured. I’ll tell you what, I hate the fuck out of Trump but I never hated him as much as I hated Obama when my broke ass got that news. I read that Trump did away with that bullshit.

Healthcare does bring up a good point though. If you ever really hurt yourself or had a condition living remote would be extremely challenging. However I think that many diseases Americans develop are the result of our sedentary lifestyles and overly processed food.

Off the grid I'd grow some weed and other vegetables. I'd probably just rent a cabin in the cuts someone already built. For cheap. But it would get all lonely without the internet. I'd need a dog and something to do. What are you going to do hike, tend the garden, read?

No internet
No TV

I'd definitely read more would have a dog and a cat for mice. Also I think the chores would keep fairly busy you wouldn't be sitting around all day.

Well I mean I'd hike and have lots of garden. Lots of drugs growing too.

I have a 25 lb inverter generator that runs on propane. Just exists as an emergency backup for now. But I like that the fuel doesn't degrade like gasoline.

I found out recently about this group that organizes land buys kind of near Timmins. $4k for a 0.5 acre chunk. But it's not outright ownership of the land, and if you sell it the other members have to approve the buyer. So some potential for annoyance there. But apparently no building permits are needed so that's cool.

And somehow it's supposed to be medieval.

You do realize how cheap ACA plans are, right? I pay about $72 for metroplus A+ plan - includes dental and vision too. $15 is the most copay I’ve paid as of yet.

I work for a healthcare company and the health package they offered was worse AND more expensive.

You can be as lucky as me and when your in the process of changing health coverage you wind up in the hospital and have to pay an insane bill. I’m still paying for that shit 3 years later. Even have letters from the doctors now trying to sue me for 10k and they didn’t do anything.

Nothing more frustrating then having to pay a bs bill while everyone else is on fucking Medicare and getting free treatment.

I’m back on my plan from work. That sounds better though. I didn’t know that tbh

Are you sure I’d get the same deal? I’m over 50 with health problems.
