Thats a green agar wedge look at the other pic. With clean LI/LC even too much liquid shouldn't really be a problem .

haha! yeah i've been wondering how shromerites are managing moisture when they use LCs. I made an attempt yesterday to make LC so it might be relevant soon

I'm still gettin used to pouring LC from my media bottles (500mL) and I think some of these quart jars got 25-50mL I haven't noticed on contamination yet, the bag got like 150mL
there were huge pools of water in the bottom but after a few days they just became "pools" of mycelium, that bag kinda shows a good representation of it,

I don't recommend it and would have gone for 8-10mL per quart jar...but I was rushing a bit. Going to practice some pouring from these bottles so I can get a feel for how much is 10, 20, 30 mL
Eventually think I'm gonna get one of those soccorex auto-refilling syringe gadgets that verum has, looked pretty convenient.

One of my GT fruits from this morning

GT clone WBS / 10-1-1 rain leached horse poo/coir/vermiculite. I'm still trying to select good genetics but this is the largest fruit off this first flush at 5.5 inches.

Depends on grain prep too. I imagine soaking wet grain might make it not work, I prep the grain a bit on the drier side.
All my jars and bags could still fuck up though.
But like, 10mL vs 25mL probably won't make or break it if your LC and grain are clean

Wtf is this about?! Happening in a couple of my fully colonized spawn jars.
At first I thought maybe mites or springtails were getting in through my plastic ball lids, but I put some under a microscope and I don’t see anything besides mycelium
Opened one jar for science, will spawn to a shoebox, gonna g2g the other ones and mark them and see what happens, maybe some sneaky contams???
Been having shit luck lately, lower than usual success rates. Losing like 1/8 of everything and I can’t pin down exactly why. 90% of the time it starts at the top of a mostly colonized jar, the rest are probably just from me being lax on my sterile tech..
I even quit fruiting for a month and deep cleaned everything I could think of, only weak link at this point as far as I can figure is my jar lids, so I bought silicone seals and a bunch of the new ball leak proof lids.

Kinda hard to see but there are a few grains that the myc looks eaten or dried and pulled away from, could it just be dry winter weather + dry grain prep?
Any thoughts? Pulling my hair out over it, but been making extra to account for losses, would rather not though

Thanks it's a clone already Im happy with but I did take 2 more clones of clusters to see if it "can" further improve.

thats why I changed grains recently. problem went away. I had everything u just described happening. tossed so much spawn and soo many tubs. just finished a 40 tub run with absolutely 0 trich all the way through 2nd flush.

Because of weird dry spots or just having less success in general?
I recently switched to millet but its not happening in millet only jars that were plastic wrapped but with mixed grain jars that werent wrapped and just on the shelf. It only happened in jars with oats.
Wonder if I had same batch of oats as you? Wtf is it that would survive pc though?? Kinda confused tbh, leaning more towards it being dry spots because I’ve been running my dehum, but any solid answer would be better than guessing lol. Maybe I’m just getting complacent and sloppy. Kinda a blow to my confidence though makes it harder to do any myco work. I’ll figure it out or I wont I suppose I gotta keep keepin on.
Well fuckit I suppose, Spawning a bunch of totes today and tomorrow and cooking more grains, wish me luck.
Lets keep this thread on track... been putting in work lately

Jst picked the nonsense off and am about to toss it in the compost. It was the little handfuls of spawn from PE APE RW and PEuW left over from g2g's. The sub was not held together well at all. Did not densely colonize. There were a couple of odd looking little shrooms in there that cud have been some sort of cross, but i cant be bothered atm.
