Worm castings and contams

What's up guys, so the last two tubs I decided to give worm castings a try with horse manure. I prepared and paateruized both tubs the same way I have for many years with very low contam issues. Well both of the tubs contaminated. The spawn was beautiful white myc that colonized quickly and smelled like clean jars should, so Im pretty certain its not the jars where the issue is. Im just curious if anyone has seen that worm castings may increase your chance of contamination or may require a longer pasteurization time than the normal 2 hours I use for horse manure?

It sounds like despite the spawn looking good that might have been the issue. It should not take any longer with worm castings.
We’re they mixed or separated in different tubs?

The tubs were seperate, I mixed and pasteurized each seperately. I spawned them about 3 days apart. I suppose it could be the jars. I think it may be time after 20 years to finally start doing agar, lol. Im tired of the guessing game. Its weird though, Ive had very little issues with contams over the years, now all of a sudden I seem to be having issues.

It comes in waves. I know exactly what you mean. Best do it yourself no pour agar is pasty whytes easy agar tek. Hands down! I like it because I have an infinite number of plates and can reuse them over and over for years. The only thing you need to buy is some agar agar , Karo syrup and potato flakes. I bought all the supplies one and haven’t had to re order in years. Whereas if you use plates you have to constantly order more sleeves. Nothing wrong with that but I like the recycling aspect of pasty plates.
