Which RGS to buy

Hey y'all, I've been using wbs forever and wanted to try out grass seed. I've read a lot of Violets teks as she's obsessed with the stuff and I'm good to go on everything except one detail. When I look at the grass seed in the store they all seem to be treated with some fertilizer as well as something to hold more water. Obviously holding more water shouldn't be a problem (I assume) but what about thefertilizer? I know Not many of you use rgs but I'm hoping a few of you out there do haha, should I just buy it and try it out?

I used it once, but it's not cheap or easily shakeable. If your country store has yhe scoop your own option ai would expect thise to be clean. If you're not going to a legit farm supply store, check em out.

I've used RGS for grass loving species like tampanensis and had great results. Otherwise try oat berries. They are soooo nice to work with and just require a summer before PCing. I used to use WBS but really prefer the oats.
If you're really set on getting RGS check out some smaller nurseries and ask them about their seed. I was able to find a place in my area that sold it in bulk by the pound.
You could always give the seed that's available a try... mushrooms will often digest anything that's in the sub without a problem. In any case I wouldn't worry about that fertilizer getting in the final product if that's a concern.

For tamps I dislike oats because of the hull. Gets stuck in the stones.

Agreed. No oats or rye berries for stones. Far better to use rye grass seed. I've done mine soaked in coffee with good results.

Okay I'll just go with what's cheapest in the hopes that it has the least amount of additives.
And I don't plan on shaking for a g2g or bulk. I'm going back to a tek I accidentally created years ago, it's perfect when you need bulk but don't have a sab or sterile conditions.
Basically just ms inject into a bag of rgs, then birth it as a giant funky looking cake haha. Sounds weird I know but as memory serves you end up with as much weight as a Monotub.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I could probably just use breakfast oats (no hull.) No-one uses them because they cake up but that's exactly what I'm looking for haha

What about steel cut oats instead of rolled oats? They're a little more like oat berries, but will stick together better I'd expect.

I bet steel cut oats would work nicely. And at a fraction the cost of rgs too
