60 HEPA filters for $250

This lot on govdeals.com has 90 new/unused filters for $250 (the auction was restarted because last week no one bid on it).
99.97%: 20x 20x24x11.5 wood case 20x 20x24x11.5 metal case 10x 24x24x11.5 wood case 10x 24x24x11.5 metal case
95% 10x 24x24x12 wood case 20x 20x24x12 metal case
Now if they were 99.99% HEPA filters, I'd be all over it... but a lot of people are using 99.97% filters here, so maybe someone would find it useful. Just throw away the 95% filters (or sell them on eBay to cover the whole cost of the lot maybe?) Either way, a few hundred bucks for 60x 99.97% filters isn't a bad deal for someone maybe.

I sense many many shroomerites rushing to govdeals to place bids, lol. You probably created some competition for yourself.

Nm. I see you've opted out anyway.

haha ya, I'm not trying to find people to bid against...
If I find a lot of 90x 99.99% HEPA filters, people would only find out after they see me selling 85 of them on eBay.

Do people really nit-pick between 99.97 and 99.99? Lol. I use a flowhood with a goddamn high end furnace filter and get contaminated plates or jars maybe 2 out of every 100.

If I’m going to spend the money on an expensive filter, yes... I’ll spend a little more for one that is 1000x - 10000x better.
Quote:
A 99.97% efficiency filter is tested with a gross leak measurement indicating that 0.03% of all upstream contamination may be passed through the filter. For a 99.99% filter, the test measures each small area so that no more than .01% of upstream contaminant may be passed in a individual leak. Since most of the filter does not have a leakage rate anywhere near the .01% limit, the result is that the gross leak is far less than 0.01%. Thus, a scanned 99.99% filter is far more than 3 times better than the gross leak tested 99.97% filter, generally on the order of from 1000 to 10,000 times better!.

That’s not to say a 99.97% filter wouldn’t work. But for a little more, you get something exponentially better. An extra $50 to have 50 less contaminated plates/jars, etc over its lifetime is worth it imo.

They had no takers... they lowered it to $50 (finally got some bids, which is now at $90).
Want some 99.99% HEPA filters please Baby Jesus, amen.

Something more interesting popped up on that site. A *real* laminar flow hood for $100.
https://www.govdeals.com/index.cfm?fa=Main.Item&itemid=13201&acctid=8445
~$14,000 new, usually $4-6k used. Wish I had a place for it.

I wonder how much shipping to Canada would be? Something ridiculous I assume. But shit, it's still at $100.

It's exactly across the country for me. It would be mine if it was within driving distance.

Idk what percentage mine is but it's either 2 or 4 microns. I've never replaced it and I've had no issues. Bought it in 2012. I would just spend the money on two good filters instead of a surplus of them, I can't see ever needing that many unless I set up a clean room that runs full time.

Now were talking about the flow hood on the last link. If it were in Western Canada I'd drive to go get it as well. Despite the fact that I have a flowhood, and don't actually need it. Getting that many filters for the price of one would be difficult to turn down though.
