Can a tray fruit covered in cling wrap?

I made a few brf cakes a while back one of which was penis envy. I later read that it doesn’t do well as a cake so I crumbled it up and spawned to coir. Since it was only a half pint of spawn I cut a gallon jug of water in half and used the bottom then wrapped it with a few layers of glad cling instead of foil.
Is cling breathable enough that it’ll fruit? Since it has three layers of wrap I poked a couple tiny holes with a scalpel just in case. It’s colonized great it’s been 8 days but I’m not sure if I can leave it as is or if I should unwrap it and just rest a shoebox lid over the top for FAE.

I think you're going to need a bit more FAE than three scalpel holes in the top will give you.
Maybe poke a couple holes in the container too, if you have a few inches above the level of your substrate there...

IME, cling wrap is not breathable. I've used it in place of lids but you are probably on the right track poking some tiny holes in it.

I figured it would work the same as foil for the spawn run but then I saw that people use it for wrapping agar dishes because it permits gas exchange, I just have no idea how much.
Sounds like I should probably cut it off then to fruit it.

I think you've got that wrong. Im pretty sure the consensus is that it does not allow gas exchange, but despite that, it works for petris.

I use masking tape on my petri dishes as it's cheaper than parafilm (though not as adhesive or pretty) but still allows for a gas exchange.

Appears that it is not a "breathable" plastic. I thought it was! huh, shows what I know and why we should always look things up to make sure before we post bullshit.
