Grow bag PE in rye won’t colonize

This is my first time using rye in a grow bag. The strain is Penis Envy.
All went well with prep, sterilization, and inoculation, but it’s been 3 weeks today and I don’t see any signs of colonization.
Any suggestions?

Shouldve used agar to inoculate them with... Im assuming you used spores. The strain is psilocybe cubensis, the variety is penis envy. Multi spore to grain is not recommended. Learn agar amd youll have envys for sure But dont be let down. Im sure spores will germinate but itll take a long time. Pe is said to grpw a little slower than other varieties of cubes. Edit: or maybe they wont...learn agar asap

Either keep waiting or trash it.
My vote is not trash it. Get started on more projects in the mean time

For the record the bag was inoculated with a commercial spore syringe.

It looks wet and possibly bacterial. If its been 3 weeks, then its probably toast. Sorry dude.

UPDATE using mad science [Re: Failboat]

Still no progress in colonization using PE in rye 3 weeks after inoculation.
I agree my bags appear too wet, so rather than toss both bags, using a still air box I cut ONE bag (sterile single edge razor blade) and inserted a large disk of Epsom salts. I then sealed the “incision” with duct tape.
The ultimate hope is that the disk will absorb some of the moisture and allow faster colonization, though admittedly contaminants may become an issue.
I’ll update with side-by-side results regularly.
Anyone care to guess how this turns out?

Idk bro...i hate to be negative but epsom salt? Grains looking like oopy soup.. Id say restart. Pick a tek and follow it to the T. DEFINITELY LEARN AGAR. Agar to grain is pure..keep it sterile and youre golden

And i havent even attempted grain bags for colonizing since i dont have a flow hood. From what i understand its mighty difficult to keep the bag sterile using a sab. Try quart jars next time

This is how science works sometimes. Someone who knows next to nothing tries an oddball solution to a problem. My experiment will likely fail, but maybe there’s a Nobel Prize in my future. 😄
