lysol in the terrarium, and dunking?
    #2634272 - 05/03/04 10:39 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

could/should lysol be sprayed into the growing chamber before the cakes are placed in it?

also, should the cakes be dunked before they're placed into the chamber?...if so, can someone point to a good dunking method?

thanks for everyone's help!!!

I'd give the chamber a good cleaning with lysol, rinse with some h202+h20 and add some h202 to the water you are using to humidify the chamber with. I think I heard of someone getting some split caps with protruding gills due to excess lysol in the fruiting chamber (anyone else remember this?). Also, I wouldn't dunk if you have just directly birthed them.

yes lysol can cause mutations and other problems. The general rule is if your cakes took less than a month to colonize, then no need to dunk but it wont hurt, any longer than a month, and you should dunk to rehydrate for sure.If you are going to dunk, keep the cakes right in the jar, scrape off the top layer of verm, and fill with distilled water and a little H2O2,then put the lid back on and place in the fridge.12-24 hours is best,no more than 24.Then double end case them,or roll in verm.
If you plan to case, there is no need to dunk, since the casing layer adds the moisture

my friend is using a cool mist humidifier setup - should he put he h202 water into the humidifier? What ratio?

If he dunks, for how long and with what concentration of h202?

are there any turorials on proper dunking techniques?
