Brown & Orange on Agar
    #26342092 - 11/24/19 10:23 AM (4 years, 2 months ago)

I've got a couple plates (from the same LC) that have a few orange blobs and brown spots. The spots look like bacteria but I'm not sure what the orange blobs are. The smaller dark specks are agar.

Looks like shit.

Probably not worth trying to clean up.

I’m more interested in identifying at least the orange contaminant. Neither has changed much in a while and mycelium goes right over both. I’ve got other clean plates of this species so studying contaminants makes these plates still useful.

It looks like some kind of bacteria. They're pretty difficult to identify but some create weird colonies like that.

ALWAYS worth "Cleaning Up".  That is why we work on AGAR to begin with.
