Mushroom ID Please ( 3 Different species )
    #26342050 - 11/24/19 09:56 AM (4 years, 2 months ago)

Habitat:
The first 2 pictures were growing in a past sheep field (short green grass) around other liberty caps, i am pretty sure they are also liberty caps but they look slightly different and feel slimy on the caps.

The second 2 pictures were found growing on a tree trunk, i have no idea what they are.

The third 2 pics were found growing around dead ferns and leafy mulch and long grass, I thought they might be wavy caps (Psilocybe cyanescens) But i am not 100% as the gills are white.

Gills:
Color -
First 2 pics - White/black but look at the pics, hard too describe.
Second 2 pics - White.
Third 2 pics - White.

Stem:
Length -
First 2 pics - 2-4cm.
Second 2 pics - 2-4cm.
Third 2 pics - About 4 cm.

diameter -
First 2 pics - stalk size as liberty caps.
Second 2 pics - 2mm. Third 2 pics - 1cm.

color -
First 2 pics - same as liberty caps.
Second 2 pics - Not sure how i would describe but pics should show it.
Third 2 pics - Brown/white.

I think the stems of the second pics are solid. The stems of the third pics are hollow.

Cap:
Diameter -
First 2 pics Approx 1cm.
Second 2 pics - Apporx 4cm.
Third pics - 2cm - 5cm.

color - First 2 pics same as liberty caps.
Second 2 pics -  Brown/White.
Third 2 pics - Dark orange/brown.

texture - Third pics are quiet mushy in texture.

Spore print color:
No spore print as of yet, but let me know if i should do so.

Bruising:
Cant notice any bruising.

Other information:
I am not sure if the third pics are the deadly galerinas or not. But they dont seem too have a veil around the stalk. Would like too identify these asap. Thanks for your time.

You have what appears to be Panaeolus acuminatus, Mycena galericulata and what looks like slightly deformed Rhodocollybia sp.

Ahh ok, There was a mixture of panaelous acuminatus and liberty caps all growing there together as they do. But These ones didnt look like the other panaelous up there as they usually have much darker stems and caps and dont usually have a slimey cap. I was thinking it might be because there young, but i did check alot of other panaelous acuminatus up there and even the smaller ones were much darker brown. I am no expert so it is a bit confusing.

Thanks

Looking at those pics again they do seem too resemble panaelous acuminatus more so than liberty caps. I thought that the slimey cap meant they had active compounds in them. I managed too find a new lib spot though and came back with 40 wet grams of them so thats positive.

Slimy cap doesn't indicate psychoactivity.

In any case, what you refer to as "slimy" is in the case of liberty caps known as viscidity in myco terms, which
would translate to "sticky" in everyday language. P. acuminatus are only slightly so in humid conditions, they
are normally rather dry and have a matt surface.

Ahh right, ok. Cheers for the info. Yeah i was feeling other darker specimens of the acuminatus i saw and they didnt have the same effect. Which is why i also thought it may be a different type of mushroom. But now there drier they dont feel so viscid. Im pretty sure your right that there acuminatus they have that look. I may just eat them anyway as they are harmless. I ate a couple of hundred last year thinking they were libs.
